RP Idea - The Portal...

Post » Sat Dec 11, 2010 7:21 pm

Twenty five years after the events of the Oblivion Crisis...

The black, oval, portal opened only a few days ago outside the city of Cheydinal. The guards have stood watch over it since it opened, Cheydinal had about one-thousand guards before the portal opened, only about fifty remain. The portal (or what resides in it) has a power to charm you to come into it. What is inside could be a paradise, or a world worse than Oblivion. The plants, the animals, the very ground around the portal has an evil aura about it, the plants wilt and die, the animals grow deathly ill, the ground will grow no crops. As each day passes, its expansion grows wider, and wider. Death has a way of appearing near this portal, and once in a while, a mysterious mage will come out of the portal, dressed in black robes, a black hood, black gloves, and black boots, with a scarf hiding all, but its eyes covered by its hood. It will say usually, "Tamriel shall bow before the might the King of Shadows, the Master of Unlife, the Scourge of Life... The Ever-Hungering Destroyer." Then it will enter back into its dark abyss.

Emperor Ocato has proposed an offer, one-million septims to stop this "Ever-Hungering Destroyer" and the eternal gratitude of the Empire. Who shall enter the portal, who shall defy the King of Shadows, who shall be brave enough to trek into the lair of Scourge of Life, who?

Warning: Your characters are likely to be killed in this, you are allowed to make new ones to come along, (thanks Wooly for the idea), if your character should die, you will most likely see him again, as one of my controlled enemies, serving the Master of Unlife.

Also, please don't make the generic, killed my daddy and I have sworn revenge or the emo, puppy-kicking, goth, kid. I hate those generic characters. Also, don't be a character that can do impossible acts like shoot an arrow a thousand meters and hit the target right between the eyes. I am pretty lenient on ubering, but nothing impossible. The following is not ubering: Jimbo shot an arrow into the chest of the creature about one-hundred yards away.

The following is ubering: Jimbo shot an arrow into the skull of the creature one-hundred yards away, killing it instantly.

It sounds okay, not as good as the thread you posted a few pages back. Its mostly combat oriented right?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! to the heavy-combat.

It is far more about character development, detective work, finding your way around. Once you enter the portal, it is you, and your group, other than that, you're on your own. Combat isn't a very heavy thing, it will be more important to work on character development. To you combat-heavy folks, there will be combat, just not a lot. I will leave plenty of riddles, you will need to solve.

You'll find in this RP, more psychological challenges than physical. I will have monsters that will mimic your character completely, and make you wonder who is who. I will have monsters that will reflect damage to your characters without you even knowing it, only feeling warm blood spill out. About the mage, I will reveal nothing about him/her, nor will I about the antagonist. I am a fond person of flashbacks/visions/dreams and will usually reveal something minor or major, depending on your progress. Like a conversation between the antagonist, and the mage, to seeing a vision of a hero who once entered here, thousands of years ago, to finding an ally, locked away in a part of the nightmarish world.
