ideas to encorage teamwork?

Post » Sun Nov 07, 2010 11:02 pm

sorry if someone has already posted a topic similar to this...
if any of you have any ideas for brink post em here, and maybe brink will see them and put it in an update!

my idea is that you get bonus points for killing or completing an objective while nearby a teammate.
you guys got anything?

I'd like it if say you buff someones gun, supply them, or revive them, you get XP for their kills too. Operative could get an XP bonus for kills made during the time the minimap shows enemies.

It's a pretty cheap way to get XP, but it could work

Why? It encourages team play. I mean, it's XP for the kill only, not for individual hits like the killer gets, and it'd only be a little bonus after getting the XP for helping out in the first place.
Encourages team play, adds you caring if your team mates to do well, keeps the balance.
Everybody wins!

I know it's kills, but you get XP for buffing and supplying already? So why add more XP on top of that, it just seems like a real cheap way to get XP. Even if it does encourage teamwork a little more.

it might have made it easy to teamwork, but there will always be (alot) of people who will not play for the win. since most of them that will not play ftw want xp, encouraging them to help their teamates by giving them more xp seems like a good option

Well you get XP for buffing and supplying already? You get XP for and from other players when objectives are complete. I don't think there's more of a reason to give people XP in order for them to play ftw.

you get exp for objectives, the ai commander gives you objectives such as resupply, support, defend, unlock, destroy, interrogate etc. so yes you do but ONLY when the commander tells you to. you can't just spam the resupply function for free exp.

but bfbc2 gave massive points for playing the objective (250 points for destroy objective, +150 for plant, but killing only gave 50) and tons of people played for kills

Yes you can resupply people when the commander doesn't tell you. You can't keep doing it though because you have an energy bar, so you can't just keep resupplying someone because eventually the energy will run out.

Well, so you care if your team mate does good or not. you might even physically help him out? Give him support, you know?

you can sure
the e3 2010 demo seems to be recorded by a newbie though so we have no idea based on purely that if it changes. commander and automated teammate recordings imply it can be ordered but that guy spends the whoile round too low on ammo so his current objective appeared to be resupply himself.

however 1-2 exp per hit 10-15 for a kill 30exp for resupplying someone and we have no idea what exp he got for stopping the fan as the cutscene overrode the screen. the objective wheel seem to say 25 for a command post.

these numbers are largely irrelevant NOW as the game is still being balanced and tuned. but as you can see resupply is rewarded and objectives are rewarded. the earlier bomb defusal map had objectives as a couple hundred points so either these objectives were all mediocre or the numbers changed.

it doesn't help the player in the e3 2010 vid seemed to be confused 90% of the time. not their fault i know but a vid straight from splash damage would have been far more useful.

That I agree with you, I was just stating that you can resupply others without the commander's approval, but you can't keep resupplying someone because of the energy bar. Also you don't have to resupply the people that need it, even though that seems like the best thing to do. I'm pretty sure people will do that though.

i know you can resupply i'm saying i think it's an objective which would also be worth MORE exp if such an objective was issued. but that guy runs around with resupply yourself for most of the match...which could be a descriptor for what the up arrow does but it seems like a waste of screen real estate for a dpad tutorial.

They pretty much nailed the xp system already. Extra xp for killing near objectives, extra xp for killing near teammates. You get points for resupplying anybody, wether or not the AI commander says something about it. The AI commander can't announce every downed teammate or every guy who needs ammo. Same goes for the objective wheel, those are tools to guide you, but they don't oblige you to follow it.

BRINK is build around teamwork. Helping your team in the most efficient way gives you most xp. This thread is pretty much redundant for BRINK.

8 legged race. 2 guys on each end with 1 leg, everybody else in between for 5v5. You cant move unless everybody moves together.

No because it wouldn't be fun and I'd chop off my teamates leg and go on my own. :spotted owl:
