ideas for new perks

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 3:35 pm

Way of the bullet - Every weapon you use has one special shot that can grant an instant kill, if your luck is good enough for it to happen

Ghoulfriend - Interactions with ghouls improve and feral ghouls tend to avoid you instead of attacking you

Shadowmaster - If you are in a dark place, you can't be seen, nor heard until you attack

Va va vhoom - You can move faster, though you also make more noise in the process

Pulverizing Palm: You have honed your wu tang style kung fu to a deadly point, when you preform paralyzing palm on any weak robot, human, ghoul, or supermutant, there limbs will shoot off in all directions and there torso will fly back about 50 feet. Other enemies (deathclaws, sentry bots ect.) will have all limbs crippled (torso is not a limb) and it will land as a critical hit. Requires 60 unarmed, 6 perception, and 6 strength.

Trojan Man: You work with your soilders like the ancient Trojans, all Human or Ghoul companions Damage resistance is increased by 10% and all companions damage with all weapons increased by 5%. Requirements: None.

Nuculear Hangover: If you drink before you sleep, you will have the well rested effect for 24 hours, but your head cannot have more than half health for this period.
Requirements: 5 enduracne.

Dual Wield: You can dual wield any one handed melee weapons, though the weapon in the off hand will do a quater of the regular damage.
Requirements: 5 strength, 55 melee weapons.

Shotgun Willy/A Boy Named Sue/The Man In Black (yes, those were all Johny Cash and Willie Nelson references, haha): You have been using guns all your life and know them inside out, your repair and guns skill are raised by 10 and when you repair a gun it will raise its condition double the amount it normally would. Requirements: Repair 40, Guns 50.

I think these would all be pretty reasonable perks for either future games or DLC.

Saucy Jack (Jack the Ripper reference): Your damage with any and all melee weapons is increased by 10% and damage against female characters is increased by 10%. Your sneak skill will be increased by 10 and melee weapons by 5. Critical Strike chance increased by 5% and will increase by 1% every 50 kills with a melee weapon up to the max of 8% (with melee weapons). Your cost for prosttutes is decreased by 20%. And, you will have uniuqe melee weapon strikes (stabs, multiple low damage really fast stabs, will gut an enemy if you attack them undetected. You are also a master of disquise (not just a woman hating phycopathic murderer) so your reputation with all settlements and factions will remain at neutral. You will still be able to gain positive reputation. But.....you are a serieal killer so your karma will be permanetly set to very evil. Requirements: None [this would be a perk that you could get near the level cap]

And there would be another perk similar to this that is the exact oppisite in that you will permanetly be very good, but you would still lose rep for killing innocents. Im to lazy to come up with the stats right now.

So it's a perk for bigots?
Should have more to it then, ghouls and super mutants (including Neil and Repcon) attacks you on sight.

Superior Maintenance: you can now repair weapons and armor to over 100 percent of their condition, up to 125%. Each additional percent adds to the item's stats and the maintenance buffer before stats start to drop.

Raw Diet: uncooked meats give you the same bonuses that cooked meats do.

Olympiad: your running spead increases, unarmed does more damage, and thrown weapons go farther. (high level perk)

Robotics Expert (altered from FO3 version):
Allows you to shut down robots when sneaking. When you reactivate them, they will be friendly if they were not already.

Monklike Metabolism (hardcoe only) :
You can last 3 times longer than normal without sleeping, eating, or drinking.

Target Acquisition: Aiming down the sights snaps to the nearest enemy.

Reign of Fire: any weapons that cause fire damage have a chance to start a self sustaining firestorm that damages all in the vicinity.

Power Player: Power armor carries its own weight.

My lucky day: You receive a lucky coin. Once a day, you can access this coin in your inventory and flip it (text based action only). Heads or tails does not matter, but if it lands on its side, you will be able to win any luck based game (slots/roulette) that you play, every time you play that day. Landing on its side would only happen rather rarely. (this perk would be a good reward for a mission)

BS will only get you so far...:
Lowers skill requirements for dialogue checks, changes your dialog options in these instances to show you're lying about how much you know about the topic. Risky in that some characters might see through your lies if they are knowledgeable about the topic.

Berserker: unarmed attacks faster and does more damage, your DT is reduced while unarmed.

Outdoorsman (reference to old skill): You can harvest more stuff from plants and wild animals.

Refined taste: you receive more bonuses from pre-war foods

More:

Jingle Jangle: Listening to the radio gives you a charisma boost

Appetite for Destruction: Killing an enemy boosts your DAM by a percentage, like psycho, for 5 seconds. Killing another enemy extends the bonus for 5 seconds and stacks another bonus on top. The bonus can be stacked 5 times, any enemies killed after that within 5 seconds of the last will merely extend the effect for 5 seconds. Keeping a chain of quick kills will make you stronger.

Hungry Boy/Girl(hardcoe only): You get an HP boost, but you require more food than normal.

Beer muscles: drinking alcohol increases your unarmed damage, and gives a chance to knock down enemies with a punch.

Heres a small one

NAME: Gun Nut or Accessories, Accessories!

requirement 50 repair and 50 guns

You are able to add one additional mod to your weaponry to a count of 4 mods. or add the option to take the mods off but the weapon you attached it to is destroyed and retain back the mods.

This does not count toward unique weaponry

@enduring protectron- love the outdoorsman, be able to find more meat and gecko skins(geckos only) on creatures. I thought they could do that for a companion survivor perk if there holding back any companion surprises like a special golden one eyed gecko.

Hmm, how?
I mean, each mod actually adds on to the model of the weapon.
Examples:

http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=4122
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/album_page.php?pic_id=4111

How's a 4th mod going to be possible if the game is designed to only have 3 mods at most per weapon?
Or is it that if I get a scope mod, that I can place it on to any weapon designed for it?
Or is it like this: Weapon Mod - Model Hunting Rifle [Scope]

Forgot about that, but owell, how bout this:

Picky or Recycle, Reduce, Reuse

Same requirements as forementioned perk

Allows the PC to recover all mods(or just 1) from a weapon and reuse it but you lose the gun you augmented it too in the process.

It would only make sense if there were more than 3 mods per weapon, with only 3 allowed to be attached at a time. Frankly I think that's a bit too optimistic but I'd like it if the mod system worked that way with 6 or so mods and you can only have 3 on at once.

1. Nope.
2. "tend to avoid you", ghoul mask makes them completely passive until attacked.
3. I think he meant that you don't have to sneak and can even jump around without them seeing you which is a little too powerful.
4. Not a downside, just stating the fact. You run you make noise.

1. No, bloody mess increased damage 5%, it does not have any chance what so ever for instant kill. It all depends on the weapon you use and against what enemy, he's suggesting a small chance to do an instant kill.
3. Yeah but you suggested that he should just sneak. But being able to run around as you want is far better than sneaking so the perk is useful.
4. Uh-huh.

She, not he, note profile and such.

I've never used Bloody Mess, I rarely sneak unless I use a Stealth Boy.

Just basic ideas, some perks I've noted have pros and cons to them, like the Nerd Rage which increases your strength, but decreases your defence.

May have been suggested already or be something similar but a "Drop Dead Gorgeous" perk. With that you can manipulate the opposite six to get yourself out of trouble or get things you want, coerce people for valuable Information, use it to influence decisions of others.. yes I'm evil :P

Like the Black Widow/Lady Killer perks? Those are useful, and most likely it will work better for a female character than male due to the high amount of male NPC's compared to female.

Yeah, kind of like those but more effective. Those didn't always seem to work very well. I did notice the different dialog with those perks but the coercion wasn't really there. At least, not that I noticed.

The Black Widow/Lady Killer perks didn't get a lot of use, sadly. Maybe such perks would have more use in New Vegas, like in the casinos for example where they could be helpful in helping the player to win one of the games.

Trust me someone way back when probrably thought this up as a perk also, most perks aren't that original.

But I give you the credit of coming up with the idea by yourself. Good Job!

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything but thats how things are here members come on here and repeat ideas, most of us come up with these ideas ourselves but someone beats us to it.
