ideas for new perks

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 12:21 am

why would someone take that as a perk. it seems to have now up-side.

Example: I'm sneaking around and find a group of supermutants together. I use my sneak attack to kill one of the supermutants. My status changes to "caution" since they heard my shot and saw one of their own die by my hand but they do not see me. I hide by a rock. Without the perk, the supermutants search the origin point of the shot and the area around it, increasing the chance of one of them finding me, it takes a while for me to recieve a "hidden" status again. With the perk, the time it takes for the mutants to stop searching for me and achieve "hidden" status again is drastically reduced.

Does that help explain it?

Same.It helps the swimmers. It'll be useless for me as I tend to avoid swimming unless it takes me closer to m objective.

Sorry for the confusion, I should've explained better in the first post. :)

Next perk,
Master of Disguise- Your character has mastered the art of disguise. While wearing a faction's armor enemy dogs and lieutenants can no longer detect you by sight alone. Other suspicious actions however can still break your cover.

The man with no name- a cowboy alternative to the mysterious stranger ( assuming MS isnt in this game) his appeareance is based around http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/f/fa/ClintEastwood.JPG/250px-ClintEastwood.JPG from the spaghetti western trilogy.
he appears with his revolver and unloads all 6 shots into your enemies if his victim is killed before he is out of ammo he will move on to another.

unlike mysterious stranger. his appearance does not Insta-kill his victim. but can result in multiple kills.

i think this would fit the wild west them better then The mysterious stranger

The perks are supposed to make your character unique, spo you dont become a god near the end. I tried not to make them overpowered..... :cryvaultboy:

i think they were a little underpowered
except for cautious courier. that seems to powerful.

the perks should be more powerful since they are only unlocked every 2 levels now

S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Guy/Gal - Due to being shot twice in the head, you are considered legally "Mentally Challenged". Your Strength and Charisma are 10, but your intelligence can't go over 3. A random item (junk) will be set to highlight when one is near. Go get that baseball!! After all everyone loves a big strong wee todd.

How about perks that allowed you to target specific parts of enemies in VATS. For example if you had Robotics Expert, in addition to the other bonuses when you went into VATS you'd be able to target the Logic Processor (or something) that would do much greater damage, or some cool effect or other. You'd only be able to target it if you had that perk.

This should be based on Perception IMO.
With 1 you can only target entire body, with 3 you can target limbs or torso/head, with 6 you can target head and torso separately and with 8 you get some additional bonuses like targeting weapons, grenades in the air, other stuff, and with the full 10 you get the eye option in VATS which is the best one but the hardest one to hit.

Perception needs something.

Yeah that makes more sense. Did they do it that way in 1 and 2? But you could imagine the complaints from people who have strength or agility based characters complaining that they can't target someone's head in VATS.

Which would be understandably frustrating. It's so fun to shoot super mutants heads right off.

Nah, Perception in fallout 1 and 2 were different, fit the TB setting.

Well, people have to decide then, are you going to have a character who can aim really well or one who can wield a minigun?
Balance is fun. :goodjob:
