Ideas for playing a Dunmer?

Hello.

I downloaded a big compilation off the Steam Workshop and I was ready to try and play Skyrim a bit. I believe I want to play a Dunmer.

Originally I made a Dunmer light armor, sneak, dagger + bow type who joined the Thieves Guild and ended up joining the Dark Brotherhood for something to do afterwards. Once I completed both of those factions I believe I was around level 20 and couldn't think of anything else worthwhile to do so I stopped playing him. I'm looking for suggestions on my new Dunmer character.

Right now I think I'll stick more to the Eastern part of the map, and hopefully there are some Dunmer-related quests in Winterhold but I don't really think so. I'll probably avoid joining either the Thieves Guild or the Dark Brotherhood at least for awhile. I'm also open to what skills I'd specialize in, aside from the caveat of not wanting to be a mage type. Does anyone have interesting ideas for quest lines I should check out, a particular playstyle, or even a roleplaying angle? I'm thinking of saying that my character is a refugee from Morrowind of some sort, maybe associated with an old or now defunct Morrowind faction.

So yeah, any suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance.

I've always had this idea in my head (well, since Skyrim's release) for a Dunmer Mage who is a Dwemer Historian. Could be an interesting RP - spending weeks traveling across the land, looking for a ruin, and once you find one, spending some time preparing. She'd (I always imagined this character as a female) collect as many Dwemer artifacts as she could find, and store/display them in her home. The College of Winterhold could provide a good place for research.

I always play dunmer, and any build will work well. What I'm finding extremely fun though is my most recent dunmer playthrough, who's going through as a pure mage.

Thanks for the responses, but I did specify that I don't really want to do a mage character for this game. Maybe one or two (pushing it) schools of magic, but no more, and no College of Winterhold.

hrm.. on the eastern part of the map but not a thief, and not a mage. well that leaves Windhelm.

...but they don't like you ashlanders there. (skyrim is for the nords, btw)

maybe you could start as a destitute sleazing around the grey quarter.

you provide hero services throughout Eastmarch. As you grow weary of the open contempt, ridicule and racism in your hometown you turn against the stormcloak uprising. Seeking to liberate your people by allying yourself with the imperials legion you master two handed swordsmanship so you can 'beat them at their own game'

...something like that I've been thinking about.

You could take the refugee from Morrowwind idea and combine that with the Dwarven researcher and maybe some alchemy. Fun alchemy quests in Winterhold (White Vial) and Riften area. Lots of Dwarven ruins in the east as well. You live on the edge, make your living finding artifacts in ruins and selling them. Maybe some smuggling.
