Ideas For A Rivet City "suburb"

Post » Mon Feb 07, 2011 2:35 pm

I've got a nice setup for a suburb of sorts off of Rivet City, around the 'docking building' thinggy that the docking bridge connects to. What I need now is ideas for little areas or purposes for the various buildings that I have set up there. What I have so far is a building for power generation, a small guard house, a mini-hotel type place, and a small water holding facility that could be inactive until the main quest is finished and become a functional pure water outlet once the MQ is completed. I have atleast 5 other buildings and a couple of courtyards to fill up, and would like to know what you think would work well or would like to see. If you'd like pictures to see what I've done so far just ask, otherwise I'd rather not go through the uploading hassle (yeah I'm kinda lazy).

1. A trading post where the scavengers from the wastelands can meet and barter/trade what they have found.

2. Rivet city being the scientific type city maybe a store where they specialize in energy weapons and power armor.

3. A building for member of the new SETI Institute (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) so in other words a group of people looking for Aliens. Note could be easily tied into the down space craft or even the Zeta add-on.

4. A bar. Their is no such thing as to many alcohol vendors in a post apocalyptic wasteland.

5. If you have a lot of time on you hands you could make a pet store were you can buy pets like Dogmeat and then teach them tricks like Dogmeat's ability to find items.

Hmm...if you have FWE installed, there's a little shack down there if you have alternative starts activated...So that might conflict with it. Although, there's always room for a suburb ontop of Rivet City (I've always wanted to do this, but I have absolutely no clue about the G.E.C.K. at all).

Anyway, for around the docking base thing:

1) You could build a Guard post on the first level off the ground, with a friendly sentry turret looking over the small suburb. You'd also want to build a wall around it, so the Super Mutants couldn't access it.

2) How about a tavern/saloon or whatever you want to call it :)

3) DON'T build a market, its the suburbs, people would travel into the city to buy everything. This would also show how Rivet City has got so powerful

4) Just for a laugh, I think you should put that annoying guy that always asks for water in a cage, and have the villagers tormenting him :)

You would also want to be very careful, as Broken Steel makes some changes to that area as well.

Oh well, guess I'll be keeping this one for personal use, lol
