Idgrod the Younger quote?

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 8:15 am

One of the statements that Idgrod the Younger can say to the player is "To be driven from our homes, to be forced here ... this is the last thing that Joric needs."

I understand that Joric is her younger brother and that she is very protective of him, but what does she mean by being 'forced here'? I tried to research her background and didn't see anything about her family being forced to move.

Or is this only something she says if the Stormcloaks take the city during the Civil war? If so, where does she move to in that case?

Thanks.

I think she says it if you side with the Stormcloaks, yes, IIRC. Then Idgrod Ravencrone and her family (including the younger Idgrod and Joric) are forced to move to the Blue Palace basemant, where they share a very small apartment with all the other Jarls and their stewards, housecarls and so on.

It doesn't get any better when you know that Elisif turned her cloak and sided with Ulfric after his victory, and therefore still sits on her throne upstairs... Awkward is a severe understatement!

That's what I thought. Thanks.

Yeah, Elisif being on her throne afterward would be awkward. I assume it's just so the game's Lore in the next game can have the Empire winning regardless of whom the player sides with.

Supposedly, from what I've read, there was a possible different ending that never made it into the game . I think it had something to do with Elisif being assassinated (by a follower of the daedric prince, Boethiah) and then Erikur (one of the thanes in Solitude's court) would have become Jarl of Haafinjar.

See the notes section in this article: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Erikur

I can support this. Mostly. I've seen talk and bits of the info meant for it; unused Guard dialogue includes stuff about Elisif being assassinated.

Cramped living spaces are part of it, but the real problem is Joric's negative sensitivity to magic. A radiant quest has Idgrod the Younger give you a letter for Danica Pure-Spring where it says how his sensitivity to magic gives him nightmares and black-outs. It's bad enough in Morthal, but when he's forced to move to Solitude, with it's history with Potema and gods know what else, it's even worse.

You'd think they'd allow the Jarls to stay in the Pelagius wing. I mean, sure, it's kinda crappy, but it's better than being stuck in the basemant like that...

Pelagius' wing was locked for good reason. Anything is probably better than being stuck in that basemant with all those other Jarls.

Well, I mean they did have a portal into the mind of a homicidally insane madman, but still. Sticking them all into the basemant seems a bit odd.

Yeah, not sure what they are waiting on there, unless the Lore has the Empire winning in the end and all those Jarls need to be alive.

So where do the Jarls that supported the Empire go if the Stormcloaks win the war?

Imperial supporters hang out in the basemant of the Blue Palace.

Stormcloak supporters hang out in a side room at the Palace of Kings or at the dining table.
