Idiot Savant Quick Save Trick Fixed?

Post » Sat Mar 19, 2016 4:15 pm

Last night I told my girlfriend about how some people will quick save prior to turning in quests and reload until they receive a Idiot Savant Proc. This quickly prompted (To my disappointment... ) her to save/load/turn in repeatedly on the next quest. Out of about 30 tries it popped for her 4-5 times, each time yielding the exact same XP.

After about 30 tries and several episodes of cussing, she googled it to make sure I wasnt messing with her.

Was this fixed?

How about Rank 3? I read awhile back that it was bugged and to only go 2/3.

What the heck. I myself tried it to confirm (Though I have like 12 intel), took me awhile but when it procced it did not effect my XP gain.

Rank 3 Idiot Savant still bugged?

Thank you for your response Jolly.

How could they even do that?

Precalculate whether IS procs a stage ahead? That would be even more abusable - if you knew the next XP gain is definitely going to proc IS you could just reload and make the most of it by handing in a quest you have on standby. If you wanted to reroll the outcome you could just cook some food or place a painting in build mode to use up that failed roll before saving and trying again.

Or you can just download the mod that makes everything proc at IS lvl 2, all kills, all lockpicks, all quest turn ins, etc. After playing a couple of characters up into higher ranks normally, I just did that for a playthrough, and got a char up to 144 in fairly short order. If you're getting tired of the lack of replayability of the game's quests and yawny 'RPG' elements, it's a fun way to acquire and play around with all the interesting perks on a char without taking a couple of months to get them.

IS usual kicks in when xp low, after removing several S M I open locked safe and there it was. From INT 10 - 20 only 1 % chance. Meaning guess one right number between 0 - 101. What could be nice to have some "horseshoe" on screen next time it kicks in, because it's huge difference between 320 and 4020 xp.

Cheers,

I'm 10 Int, so IS procs fairly rarely.

Though it's hard to know for sure, it seems to aim for a steady proc rate. If I'm distracted and leave my dude standing around at Red Rocket for a decent length of time IS tends to proc very quickly, within about 5-10 attempts. Sometimes it will proc twice in a short space of time. While actively playing it seems to proc once every hour or so irrespective of how many times I gain XP. It could just be coincidence but I don't feel like I get more procs per hour while grinding Piper's likes by repeatedly lockpicking, it still feels like they're still spaced out pretty much the same as if I were just roaming around killing the occasional enemy I run into.

I have it on my 18-27 INT character, it still procs occasionally. I didn't abuse save scumming for every quest though, only the big story ones.
