The fact is, there will be people out there who don't enjoy Skyrim. Some of them will prefer the more combat-focused experience of Dark Souls to Skyrim's broad scope of gameplay. Some will crave multiplayer.
In the end, it doesn't matter. Todd has been pretty vocal about Bethesda not having to chase trends, since enough people enjoy the massive single-player experience of games like TES that they don't have to. The sales of OB and FO3 certainly prove to illustrate his point.
The one sure way to fail is to try and please everybody, and the team at Bethesda seems to understand this (mostly...).
