IGN hates Skyrim

Post » Sun Sep 25, 2011 9:37 pm

What's up my fellow Skyrimmers?

I read an http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/119/1196353p1.html written by Casey Lynch; entitled, "Top Five Reasons Why Darksouls Will Eat Skyrim's Face" and published on the home page of IGN. Being that it is published anywhere on IGN would mean that IGN endorses the article in all it's ignorant, idiotic views and very poor conception. He starts it by saying "Darksouls will save gaming and eat Skyrim's face in the process".... Like Skyrim is doing something wrong!! He's got his own angle, his own agenda, a very narrow skew and he hates Skyrim. What the article basically says is that Skyrim is a piece of garbage and Darksouls is awesome. This Casey Lynch fellow is a f*cking moron in my opinion. A complete f*cking idiot. Because comparing these two games like comparing apples and oranges.
He rips Skyrim constantly and never praises it. F*ckhead, I mean Casey, compares the two games in five different categories(All of which he says Darksouls wins). Online, DLC&Pricing, Epic Scope, Tight Combat & TRUE Challenge.... AND DRAGONS. Yes, F*ckhead says Darksouls has better dragons in it.
Why are the dragons better? Because they're near-f*cking-impossible-to-beat, he says.... which he also lists as to the reason why he prefers the combat&true challenge as well. He thinks people want to die every 3 seconds in their game because it's more fun that way. Hey, don't get me wrong -I like a challenge, BUT, I don't want ONE WRONG BUTTON to be the reason why I have to start the whole level over. And if you've played Demon's Souls(the predecessor to Darksouls) you know this to be true. The game gets HARDER with each mistake you make and it stays that way. It really svcks actually. If you're a casual gamer, normal gamer, average gamer, above average gamer -you probably won't ever want to finish the game. I quit a little over halfway through because it was so irritating. I didn't enjoy it at all the first 2 weeks I played it... I eventually finished but when I did I was relieved to NEVER have to play that [censored] again... Unlike every other game I've ever played-I'm usually sad when I beat the game.

I'm not spending anymore time on comparing these games... What I want to say is that they are very different games that really shouldn't be compared straight across. I think from everything I know about Skyrim is that it will undoubtedly be the best game of the year when all the scores from all the critics are added up. I also think that Darksouls will be an awesome game that I will buy and will tear my hair out trying to beat...

Casey-F*ckhead-Lynch says many more moronic things in his [censored] article aside from all that... I agree with nothing he has written. Not a word. And it all pisses me off. He is a gaming journalist and he rips on a game people already love. And why does he do it? Because Skyrim is very popular. He writes a comparative article that sounds like it was written by the developers of Darksouls that rips Skyrim on everything. Because Skyrim is immensely popular, Darksouls in turn becomes more popular. F*ckhead's writing is like "news reporting" from Fox!!! Just slanted to fit their own personal wants, ideals and agenda. It's not journalism! It's just horrible the way he tries to take shots at Skyrim. Sounds to me like the developer of Darksouls is paying IGN for this shock reporting.

Oh and one more thing.... While he makes big wide praises for Darksouls and [censored]es about Skyrim endlessly he never once mentions the fact that he hasn't even played both games... He hasn't played either one, actually. (Not that he should compare games like this in the first place, it belongs on a Darksouls forum or a blog, not a gaming news site.)

IGN has always had a reputation for being one of the worst gaming sites... I should have guessed they'd publish garbage like this. It's just one big smear campaign against Skyrim and Bethesda designed to introduce and promote Darksouls.

If you want to call Casey-F*ckead-Lynch an [censored], please do so. Reach him by clicking his name on the article.... Just please give him [censored] for horrible writing and IGN's agenda against Skyrim-nothing against Darksouls.

I'm pissed right off.

That statement, even if it was true, is very unprofessional criticism. I didn't know companies hire trolls to write reviews.

Exactly. I'm perfectly fine with anyone disliking Skyrim (or liking another game more) but this article seems like written by a PR.

Skyrim has a lot of fans. They all get mad, go and rage all over IGN's page giving them tons of ad revenue from all the hits the website is getting. Plus maybe pick up a cheque from the developers/publishers of Dark Souls for the press. Not to mention it's more publicity for Bethesda. Any publicity is good publicity. Everyone wins except all the fans getting butthurt over something that isn't even a big deal.

I predict a low Skyrim score on that [censored] site. They're sold, this article is very unprofessional. Many of the so-called 'arguments' are laughable.

The person who wrote that article knew that it will generate controversy so people would flood with comments and traffic. I like how he didn't even try to hide the obvious bias he had for Dark Souls.

Indeed. Every company pays to get these kind of articles written. Even Bethesda, so no point falling into rectal ragnarok.

Nah, I doubt that. It's just a marketing stunt for the other game, IGN always score high on Bethesda.

My primary gripe with the article was this.

Bacon vs. Wood Chips

Category 1: Weight

Wood Chips are lighter than Bacon.

Wood Chips 1, Bacon 0

Category 2: Ability to Cause Splinters

Wood Chips cause more splinters than Bacon.

Wood Chips 2, Bacon 0

Category 3: Price

Wood Chips cost less than Bacon.

Wood Chips 3, Bacon 0

Category 4: Longevity

Wood chips last longer than Bacon, which gets rotten with magots in days.

Wood Chips 4, Bacon 0

Obviously Wood Chips are superior to Bacon in every way. Anyone that thinks otherwise is nothing but a Bacon f a n b o y.

Don't reply if you haven't read the post, buddy. I'm not mad at video games,. I'm mad about the way the article is presented as an advertisemant (or more accurately, propaganda) in favor of Darksouls. I'm mad at IGN , it's editors and Casey Lynch for terrible, slanted writing that supports their own agenda instead of professional unbiased journalism. You would understand all this if you knew how to read.

I've never respected IGN anyhow. They always underrate great games and oversell terrible games. When I saw this earlier today, it made me go "What the hell is this guy talking about" and then I laughed in several spots of the article. If I was a game company, I wouldn't let IGN anywhere near my game until release, don't need to play Russian roulette with the fools over at IGN.

There have been several topics already on this, the two games are not comparable and to save further rivalry between to two games that are not comparable we'll just close this one as well.

There is also cross site trolling creeping in again -

fools over at IGN.

We don't do that on these forums.
