ign's top 10 Gods in Elder Scrolls

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:32 am

The Vivec in Morrowind was his avatar, not unlike Hircine in Bloodmoon.

My understanding that Vivec lost his divinity. His being in Tamriel was his only being, no avatars. Just like Almalexia and Sotha Sil. Sotha Sil dieing (plausibly) prior to the destruction of the heart and the loss of Godliness.

Well, depends on the timing. If it's after his loss of divinity, it was him, if it was before, it was his avatar.

.......no he was himself, the only beings that use Avatars are aedra and Daedra, he wasn't a god on their scale and he was very much vulnerable to mortal follies, like believing a lie from Cyrus and stating the Cyrus would kill them both over simple dishonor...

Daedra make Avatars because they ARE the spheres in Oblivion, when you go to the Deadlands in Oblivion the game, The Deadlands IS Dagon, but I guess you already know that. Vivec doesn't have this aspect of existence he just had alot more freedom. they were all just jacked up on Lorkhan juice.

What is the Op Ed writer's problem with Elves.
I think he got a little out of hand rp'ing his Argonian.

The Cyrus story was just that: a story. It was like that in all of Cyrus' story. He took on EVERYONE and won.

As you said, Vivec stole a significant slice of Lorkhan's godhood, wouldn't that mean he shares the sphere of Mundus? Even when talking to him in the first time, he says something about being everywhere and right there at the same time, and being outside time, and something to that effect.

And this is why people need to research the mythos before making silly lists.

Poets use lies to tell the truth. Vivec, the God, did not kill Nerevar. Vivec, the mortal, did.

Yes, he stole godhood from the Heart of Lorkhan, but that didn't make him any less powerful than any of the other gods at the time. His power waned, as he was not a natural god and he could not keep refreshing his power at the Heart. But he changed the Mundus. He made it so he always was.

Simply awesome.

Well he did research the lore. For the most part, he knew what he was talking about. He just chose the interpretation that Alduin and Akatosh are two entities that should be identified separately. It's not like he's the only one who thinks that.

BUT HE [censored] FORGOT SHOR!!!!

Hell, the space god has touched onto Nirn plenty of times, and every time he did, [censored] went down. The two most famous being Pelinal and King Wulfhart.

This. Vivec is just a back stabbing pretender who likes to float.

And he can't even float without having to stop every ten seconds. That guy was such an [censored]... He stops the meteor from impacting Vvardenfell, but instead of just sending it to another plane of existence or vaporizing it with his godly powers, he let's it remain there as a constant threat to the safety of the people of Vvardenfell. And as a result of his failure as a "protector" of the people, he ends up being the cause for the current condition of the Dunmer race. I don't understand why people on this forum say the Nerevarine caused all of that.

Back on topic: No Azura or Sheogorath? Failure.

I would have preferred Almalexia over Vivec, even if the Tribunal is a fraud.

I don't really consider Talos one of the Divine as he is just Tiber Septim on a pedestal.

Azura should definitely have been on the list for sure.

Nerevarine > the Tribunal combined.

He was a little wrong on some of the gods but it wasn't a big mistake on any of them. Also, where was Lorkhan in the list or Sheogorath? I mean, really...Sheogorath was nicer than Jyggalag. I know, Jyggalag is more powerful and technically is the same god as Sheogorath but cursed into insanity and a different form by the other Daedric Princes that feared him becoming too powerful but still...

Well he didn't say he created vampires. He was right in fact, Clavicus is the reason that the Cyrodiilic Vampires can assimilate with society, he gave them the power to survive in sunlight.

Nice read. The whole Tribunal should've been there, not just Vivec. Also, where is Lorkhan? He's heaps better than Akatosh!
