To be honest i think it will be unnecessary to have a 3d world map punishing your performance... as long as a paper map looks clear to me it would've been just fine. I hope it wont take a long time to load the world map.. Oblivion style map was just what we needed although sometimes it was kinda complicated to understand the specific locations.

Punishing your performance?

@Jaemot What is the Total War map like?

Just as Oneah said.. http://www.game-over.net/reviews/2007/01/thumbs/1100-thumb-2.jpg

Basically a 3D map rather than a 'paper' or 2D design.

I'm not sure if it's necessary, but it could be really nice depending how it's implemented.

I wished the person who wrote this article would explain why they removed the 8 attributes

“What we found is that all of those attributes actually did something else, so a fan might say, “You removed my 8 attributes!” and my answer is “Which ones did you want?” “I’ve got to have intelligence because it affects my magika!” “Well now we just have magika.” They all trickled down to something else so we just got rid of that. Now when you level up you can just raise your magika. In Oblivion you had to raise your intelligence, knowing that your intelligence raises your magika to cast more spells. We found that they all trickled down to some other stat.

I'm not buying it. How are Personality, Luck, Speed and Agility related to health, magicka and endurance? This is the worst decision they could have made.

I wonder if Bethesda improved the facial animations -- I felt like each character I talked to, in Oblivion, had the same emotionless expression on their faces. It was priceless.

Save for the attributes being removed, which doesn't make sense to me at all, I'm satisfied with this article.

I was curious to know whether the conversation system would be like oblivion/morrowind or more like fallout 3/new vegas. Was that mentioned anywhere? I mean the two previews of the demo I read mentioned the new conversation system where NPCs go about their business while talking etc but nothing about player dialogue or anything.

Khajiit looks ridiculous in that shot, I'm sorry to say. Don't know why, but they remember me from Morrowind' ones, but not in the good sense: more like a cheap "Morrowind-Skyrim" port of them.

The orc on the other hand looks awesome. So awesome I'm even inspired to create an Orc char (a race I've never touched before).

I thought the opposite. The Khajiit looks great.

Of course, with the pages and pages of great news and amazing screenshots, let's take one facet of news we know nothing about and start complaining!

I want the main attributes in too, but before I start the barrage, I'll wait until they explain why they took them out and how it will change/affect things if it will at all.

They at least can't say that about jumping and running. That needs SOMETHING to govern it.

Not a fan of the attributes removal, and REALLY not a fan of acrobatics/athletics. In Oblivion they removed Unarmored using the excuse that you can use acrobatics to perform dodge moves in real time now, so acrobatics replaces unarmored. Well, what now? What if I want a character who is a melee fighter and doesn't wear armor? How exactly am I supposed to do that? Would really like to get a list of which skills exactly are in, with the removal of acrobatics I am hoping for a return of unarmored, but not expecting it since Beth games are moving more and more towards straight up action instead of RPG and characters wearing armor is more "epic" and "exciting" and "whatever other marketing buzzwords you like".

If it works like Total War Campaign Map then yes it will. I'm not sure there is anyway to have it pop instantly if you have to render a 3d world map

You're not buying it because because it doesn't have attributes? Really?

#1 Without any need to persuade people now, there is no need for the personality attribute.

#2 Luck had effects on everything. Which is too vast to care about, I mean not alot of people would waste their time raising it.

#3 Speed is probably going to be judged by what body type you choose.

#4 They are probably going to make these attributes into perks in the perk trees.

To be honest I can somewhat understand the attribute removal for the sake of removing the gamey grinding of skills to build endurance for better early HP boosts, etc.

I'm sure there will likely be some "background" attribute esque data affecting skills and other things in game though.

I don't think he said not buying it in the sense of not buying the game :P he meant that he doesn't believe that does were the reason to remove the attributes :P

The bit that stood out for me was that the text options are central on the screen wherever you looked. So although you are not 'locked into their face', you are still participating in the conversation until you say goodbye or something.

They confirmed a speech skill in one of the articles, so we'll still be persuading people somehow (just not like Oblivion). I think they could remove personality because it's effects mostly overlapped the skill, and you'd rarely try to raise one but not the other.

That's all they said about the dialogue system?
