III vs IV (Ungeneralized Poll)

It was the Greeks (mainly Herodotus drawing from Eygptian sources) who bashed Cambyses, not the Persians.

Herodotus was mistaken. Very true.

Actually the only source on Cambyses that implies he was crazy is Herodotus's account.

I love people who understand what I'm talking about enough to correct me. You just made my day. Thank you. :celebration:

EDIT: Then again, enough Persians preferred Smerdis over Cambyses to let him take the throne. Whether this Smerdis was the brother of Cambyses or actually a Magus is the question.

But, it's kind of obvious that at least most of the Persians back home weren't fans of Cambyses, IMHO.

Sorry for being off-topic :sadvaultboy:

Graphics -> Oblivion is clearly the winner here, though there are certain stylistic decisions that make Morrowind's graphics still appealing to me.
Storyline -> MorrowindMorrowindMorrowindMorrowindMorrowindohgodMorrowind
Community -> Morrowind. Oblivion may have had bigger mods like Unique Landscapes, but the amount of work - models, textures - put into Morrowind's mods is simply infinitely larger than Oblivion, at least it was like that last time I was here.
DLC -> Oblivion. They cost money, but at least they aren't half-assed item or quest mods (except the horse armor one) surpassed by all the community mods.

So I guess overall they're balanced: each have their pros and cons depending on what one finds important.

Also why are we talking about Greeks and Persians all of a sudden D:

i seriously do not know why people like the look of oblivion. morrowinds photo type scenery was very beautiful, as are the possiblilites brought in by mods. The animation was minorly strange, modded to niceness B) The thing thats better with oblivion is merely the foliage, the way it is dispersed and alive feeling, nature felt more natural (though not from the boring European landscape, i liked the fantasy ashy morrowind MUCH better)

The faces were better in morrowind cause they were more realistic, lets face it, how much diversity and coolness could you really make with those slider things (this feature was better in fallout) I liked morrowinds bodies better (well, with better bodies) they had better proportions i think, it diversified the races. also, a pet peeve of mine is having a bookworm character the has the male races default well toned body, why are all these beggars and bakers so ripped? can we have average bodies maybe? any heavily muscled warriors should be covered in armour anyways!

I came from playing Morrowind on the Xbox,
I got a nice PC and played Oblivion,

I then ordered Morrowind PC GOTY .

Without Mods OB beats Morrowind visually

Since I did all the quests and I mean ALL of them on the Xbox, Oblivion simply wins Visually.

But Morrowind? well, getting you into the quest? Making you feel like you made a difference? Yup it did that, OB didn't.

Questwise, well Oblivion she didn't do so well. Morrowind will always be my favorite game.

Still play them both. Can't wait till the next one!

I'm not gonna include the modding community in my vote, apart from community quality.

Graphics and game mechanics-Oblivion wins this overall, but Morrowind has so many booming parts. The uniqueness of the landscapes, and the journal are so much more awesome. (Morrowind has a "Quest" part, similar to Oblivion's - actually play the game if you want to rant)

Storyline-Morrowind by far. The ultimate spawn of satan feel is just stupidly cliché. I loved the fact that Dagoth Ur was partially good. (blurred morality and ethics)

Role-playing-Oblivion had more role-playability, simply because of player homes. I could role-play as an unimportant person, but Morrowind felt more involving. Goes to both.

I guess Morrowind should win between Storyline and roleplaying. Considering the above, Morrowind wins. You should seperate them.

Community quality-Both the same. We're all the same people. A lot of Modders do both Morrowind and Oblivion, and nearly all of us would allow the other game to use our work.
Add-ons-Morrowind, simply because of the addition of werewolves... and hircine :shifty:

Overall-Morrowind by far. There's just too many annoying parts of Oblivion. The lack of Jungles, the "swamps", the Imperial City, etc, etc.
