I'm new to the game, and new to the forum. Please forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong spot - I didn't see anywhere specifically tagged for this sort of issue.
I think I have a pretty big glitch in my game. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but one of my quests has gone kind of haywire. I'm playing a new disc on my xbox one, if that matters. So, that being said, here we go...
In the quest 'Ill Met by Moonlight', something has gone wrong. I got through the part with Hircine just fine, then he sent me on the Begin the Hunt portion of the quest. I didn't do it right away, I got carried off on another quest. So when I came back to it, I got to Bloated Man's Grotto just fine. When I went inside, I found J'Kier. The dialogue went fine, then he died. Now is where my problems start. I looked all over Bloated Man's Grotto but I didn't see anybody else. No hunters, no Sinding. So I followed the marker on the map to where it said Sinding would be. It took me to an area just outside Falkreath. I talked to him, no problem with the dialogue. I opted to help him. He said we would hunt together. But he wouldn't move. If I moved, he didn't follow and he never went anywhere else. I went back a few saves and tried to load it again several times, but the same thing. I got frustrated, thought I had done something wrong so I went off on another quest and thought I'd come back to this part with a fresh mind to figure out whatever puzzle I needed to find. Now, several quests later, I've come back to it.
I reactivated the quest. It took me back to Bloated Man's Grotto. J'Kier was already passed, and so I followed the map marker to where it said Sinding would be. This time it took me to the dungeon in Falkreath to the original cell I found Sinding. But, obviously, he isn't there anymore.
Now I have no idea what to do or where to find Sinding. I've read through some things and it looks like I should have originally found him in Bloated Man's Grotto, along with two other hunters. Now I'm stuck, have no idea where to go, can't find Sinding, can't load enough saves back to reactivate the quest all over, and I have a cursed ring I can't remove.
So...any advice? Or shall I just get used to unexpected transformations? I'm fine with that, but if that's the case, will it disrupt anything with the Companions?
Thank you so much!
