Illogical to destroy the Railroad?

Post » Thu Dec 03, 2015 3:01 am

Am I the only person who finds it completely illogical and even a little stupid that you have to destroy the Railroad if you're going to take out the Institute? I mean, if you destroy the Institute then there will be no more synths being produced, right? If that's the case there won't be a reason for the Railroad to exist any longer so what's the point in having to kill them all? There should have been a skill check with high enough Intelligence and Charisma to explain this to the BOS and Desdemona and have them just fade back into society. I felt like a total [censored] killing them for absolutely no reason whatsoever. It has been the most unfulfilling and pointless thing in the game I've done so far.

Am I missing something?

The BOS wants to kill the Railroad because they think the Railroad will sabotage their efforts to destroy all Synths.

Remember, even if you destroy the Institute, all Synths must die.

Which means Glory and others.

The Railroad stands in the way of their mission to eradicate all Synths in the Commonwealth, hence they have to go. Bye bye Railroad.

I understand the BOS goals, but those goals are also illogical. How many synths have already escaped the Commonwealth? We know of at least one in Rivet City. It's at least plausible that by negotiating with Desdemona you could give them a little head start in getting any synths they're currently smuggling out of the Commonwealth. And beside the fact that you can't tell them apart from a human, all they need is a little time to close shop so to speak to get them out. If any escaped synths choose to remain in the Commonwealth, they're now on their own.

Anyway, I think this would have been a great opportunity for Beth to add more choices in how to resolve a situation. But unfortunately they "Railroaded" us into a linear path. (pun intended)

The BoS isn't only concerned with the Commonwealth -- so if the Synths infest other regions, they are then also a problem elsewhere that should've been stopped while they were in Boston. You dig?

If the game were more realistic Railroad couldn't do anything that would interfere with their with operations. The Railroad organization has to spend all their energy on hiding and helping Synths. The Minutemen are already pretty weak compared with the BoS, but they have the support of settlers and they don't have to hide from the institute all the time. Gathering resources (including people) is much harder when you have to hide and most people don't want to like their cause them.

Yeah, fans of the BOS really want to hear their goal of "murder all nonhumans" as "only the bad ones."

The BOS CAN and WILL bring order to the Wasteland, though.

It's just a question of the price being worth it.

Yeah, I can't imagine what an organization which exists to commit terrorist activities against a superior technology organization using subterfuge as well as high-tech manipulation of their machines would be able to do against a superior technology organization vulnerable to subterfuge as well as high-tech manipulation of their machines.

But an entire (more interesting) paths shouldn't be closed to everyone with two low charisma or bad luck.

There's an irony that the Brotherhood becomes more and more like Space Marines as the designs of both Power Fists and Rippers are deliberately moved away from their origins as 40k homages.

Considering the railroad is comprised mostly of synths themselves.. it is no wonder the BOS would want them eliminated since they want to destroy ALL synths of which several known ones at least are members of the railroad.

You are talking about terrorists? Terror organizations produce and smuggle drugs. And terror organizations can hide by using the internet. Railroad can only gather resource by meeting them asking them for resource after spending a lot of resource on checking that he isn't an institute spy.

Do you know the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow. People today might join terrorists in order to gain Esteem and Self-actualization, but people who struggle to survive care a lot less about these things.

They reckon that people use them and make the speech checks harder in order to counter balance that.

You forget that Maxson is such a biggot that he would not even spare his best and most loyal friend. The people he brought with him to the Commonwealth are mostly of the same ilk and the more rational ones were probably left in the Citadel.

Though after seeing the Mojave chapter, I'd say that Maxson is still open-minded by BoS standards. The BoS are like the Institute: they spend too much time in their fancy, little bunkers.

You can't use Deathclaw gauntlet, Power fist and other unarmed weapons in Power Armour. Because the Power Armour has built in unarmed with the fists. You can modify the hand pieces to increase unarmed dmg, bleed etc.

Onto Maxson i feel like he has alot to live upto aswell. He isn't just another Elder after all.

That's simply wrong, you can convince him. And he is technical not his friend anymore, he is just a copy, created with the intention of infiltration the BoS, but it didn't work very well.

The members of BoS are mostly loyal to their leader. When some secede the rest is only pisses, because they disobey order of their leader.

There's no Danse that's been replaced. Danse never existed.

The first Danse was a Synth.
