Existed on Planetelderscrolls from May 2008, uploaded now to Tesnexus. First official thread.

From Description:

Re-designs the original beginning of the game.

You start as always on the prison ship headed for Seyda Neen, this modification changes many features to seperate it from the default.

The list of features include:

- The prison boat now contains numerous prisoners and their cells. They will heckle you as you pass by using sound files from the game.

- Removal of tutorial message boxes.

- The time is set to early morning and the weather is set to Thunder. Guards have been placed on the dock as well as on the ship, and clothed appropriately for the weather.

- The census and Excise building now includes numerous other prisoners being released into the world. The building has also been re-designed to appear more 'lived in'.

- Scripted events: To make the experience more memorable and involving.

- Over 80 NPC's used in total, on the prison ship, dock and within the census and excise building. Removed and enabled based on certain situations

1.24 is the latest (and likely) last version.

Is there anything new in version 1.24 besides the fix for the barrel issue? Regardless, I'd like to second Red Eye and say that this is a must-have mod for any character of mine that starts in Seyda Neen. Brilliant work.

I agree, this is a stunning mod! It is a really dark and dreary way to start the game!

Its probably all the mods I have running, but I find this causing lots of CTD's.

However.

My god! It's...amazing, truly stunning. With just a simple plugin you've created a interactive, immersive chargen I didn't think possible. That dream sequence was especially well done. It actually SEEMED like a dream. I definitely reccomend it for anyone, and this mod may find its way into my fiction, as it makes being released a lot more realistic, if only the rest of the game were made in such a way. True, there are mods that tweak things a bit, but not on this level.

This only works with new games?

Yes, as it only adjusts the character generation

Since it only involves the game startup, I would say, yes!

This mod... it is truly amazing. I felt like I was my character,
Spoiler
scrambling to get out of there when the brawl ensued. And the dream... pure, PURE genius there, I felt scared and helpless watching the shadow of a god walk toward me as I talked to Jiub. Jiub, who I always saw as a good man scared me as he was rambling off nonsense to me while this was going on... Amazing.

I covered that up so it doesn't ruin it for those who haven't used it yet. :P

Must have for everyone. Infinity stars out of 5, just marvelous.

Same here. I always seem to seek out spoilers even if I really don't want to... I'm trying not to click on the F.E.A.R. 2 ending discussion topic in CD now. :P

Secret things

Spoiler
I didn't get any dream sequence or god when I played through chargen. Are you referring to Bethesda's intro movie?

Awesome mod! I also am having problems speaking with guards that cannot see me. I can post my mod order if you like, but its around 150 mods now and really I'm not sure which would be causing the problem.

I had the same problem because I was being compliant, and polite. You got to be a Prisoner with nothing to lose...
Spoiler
Talk back to the guard right after Socius Ergalla

Normally Elder scrolls mods have a forum thread link, which I do not see present for this mod. It should probably be updated and point to here.

Nope, any character can get the
Spoiler
Dream Sequence
.

Anyway, just played through this, and it is an excellent way to start the game. Thank you very much for making this! I love the part where
Spoiler
your character is jumped right after leaving the huge fight, and the two muggers, after having killed somebody, are contemplating what to do with you. The Dream Sequence and the huge fight scene where you have to kick down the door were also very awesome.
The dialogue was a bit awkward at times, though. Other than that, perfect mod.

I tried this mod a while ago, but decided not to use it. It creates a darker, more violent atmosphere for your arrival in Morrowind, and for most of my characters, having such an amount of violence right at the start of the game just felt wrong. I'd recommend the mod to anyone who does *want* a darker atmosphere though.

Technically the mod seemed solid to me. I got a crash when I tried to open a cell door in the chargen boat though. Also, the mod adds references to outdoor cells in Seyda Neen, so it runs a high risk of creating local ref bugs (and associated crashes) if the user didn't apply the MCP.
