[IDEA] Immersive Fast travel

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:16 am

Someone over in the Fallout Forums came up with an idea for more immersive fast-travel, and the idea might with work Oblivion too! The idea is that when fast traveling, a dotted line would creep across the map from the player's current location to where they plan on traveling to.

A second component would be the chance of random encounters along the way (because fast travel is way too safe).

I think these idea would be great because it is less intrusive than a complete revamp/removal of the current fast travel system but still provides a way to make fast travel make more sense.

My question is, are either of these ideas possible?

Probably. :P

Just wanted to say though, that the most immersive fast travel I have used is none. Actually disabling the option altogether works best, IMO. ;)

Sorry, and your idea does sound pretty neat too.

I usually never use fast ravel in Oblivion or Fallout. In fact, I often avoid the more realistic options in Morrowind too! To me, the idea would make the occasional use of fast travel make me feel less like a guilty cheater.

Sometimes you just want to get there quick, ya' know. :bolt:
