The only ingredient missing is actual particle based rain outside, one of the remaining holy grails.

And having NPCs walking around outside your window.

I've also found "Never Gonna Give You Up" to be highly catchy to listen to whilst slaving away at making the fake exteriors :P

Nice screens i love bruma anyway. Maybe since its cold and snowy there much like sweden.

Okay, a little question. This is a CS shot but imagine you're looking out of a window. Do you guys prefer it with http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/9849/withsnowblobs.png, or http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/2145/withoutsnowblobs.png?

Er. Would the snow end up looking like that, basically? I like the idea, but well, it seems a bit... chunky? Something like that.

But, I really do like the idea. :)

edit: And it could be that I'm very, very spoiled, what with all the mods I use, including many that improve the looks...

I quite like the snowblobs, but I dont think their totally essential, if they result in a greater work load for you or a decrease in performance then I think you dont need to put them in

Most definitely without. To me it just looks like some snowy rocks are clipping through the ground.

Without, although both look like there's too little snow, though I'm not sure how noticeable that will be - I can't think of any buildings with windows in places where you'd see large expanses of ground. All from memory though, my character lives in Chorrol now.

Yeah, that's the problem when you have no ground blending. It's especially noticeable without snow.

I've removed the random "blobs" and tried to add a bit of snow to logical places without it looking stupid. Look any better, or still scrap the idea?

I agree--both look too summer-y for Bruma. Any way to give it a light dusting of snow all around? That would be enough to give the impression that you're not in any other town.

Isn't it best if it looks the same when outside as it does when looking through the windows (or as close as possible of course)? Wouldn't it be a bit weird if those snow patches suddenly have melted when you exit the house? Or am I missing something here?

That does look better. Is there any way you could somehow make a texture out of what you see the ground as outside, and apply that?

They aren't chunky, they are 'husky'.

I like the snow myself. Bruma just isn't Bruma without it. The improved version is much better.

Okay, I've done a quick test for what wrinklyninja said, that is by making a custom texture that incorporates the vanilla snow landscape blending. It's nowhere near perfect as it's just something quick I did, but how does something like this look to you all?

http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/4028/blendtest.png

Finished version will obviously blend in and not have any visible seams.

Promising, perhaps it is worth playing around with custom textures to see what you can do? I can't say I know a lot about textures or anything related, but you might be able to get better results using them than the rocks method you're using at the moment (though you'd lose snow shininess, I think).

Yeah, the only issue I'm thinking of is that people with texture replacers will have miss-aligned textures. I'll mess around with custom textures, if not, I'll use the rocks method but making sure they match the exteriors. Even if it looks a bit clunky I suppose it's better than a summer holiday style Bruma.

Hyl? SomeWelshGuy

Llongyfarchiadau been using your (must have) mod since it first came out, along with UL, and Arthmoors's (IMO great OCR) I've never taken so many screenshots for prosperity, Chorral mages guild is just stunning. I have noticed as I have become accustomed to having your mod, it becomes less important that the detail outside of the window is accurate to what I know, how ever just feeling it (in gaming perspective) is enough, as you play the game.

Being a member of TESA ( which by the way you'll be welcomed in without a doubt as I was) DarkRider a fantastic modder in his own right, wrote in a thread it is about those that every now and then give a comment, that means so much and give the spur to continue with the mod. That with your own desires and passion for your vision keep a mod going through the silent times. While this mod is not silent in comments and gratification, I wanted to lend my voice to the appreciation of what you are doing, and wish to say....

diolch yn fawr (thank you very much) once again, and what you are doing for me is much appreciated.

Diolch Glimiril, rydw i'n gwerthfawrogi eich cefnogaeth :)
Thanks Glimiril, I appreciate your support :D

After seeing the problems with a custom texture I decided to drop it. I've gone back to using rocks but I've only put them in areas where there's snow in the outer cities to try to make them as realistic as possible. Here's what it looks like as an example, both CS shots but one is down the street and one is through a window. What do you guys think?

Looks fine to me. The very first screenshot you offered didn't look good and at that point I was against this idea, but the more recent shots show some thought being put into their placement, so now the snow doesn't look out of place.

Awesome, glad it looks good to you guys :)

I must say that I am loving the feeling of Bruma. You actually get the sense that you're going underground as you can see yourself go underneath the landscape. I find it really quite cool.

More screenshots coming soon :)

Screenshots, as promised. These are taken from the player's house in Bruma. It was raining so I forced the weather clear which is why the snow on HDR seems a bit blinding :P
