I don't understand your guys' obsession with having armies numbering in the tens of thousands. Do you know how hard it is to FEED and CONTROL something like that? That's why I kept Dwynnen's and Daggerfalls armies kinda small, I didn't wanna have to deal with the massive logistics that come with super-armies, not to mention the discipline that is required to keep something like that under control so they aren't [censored] women or plundering to their hearts content.

Yes, Tamriel has magic and stuff, but it is still grounded in a pseudo-medieval world. Large armies in the High Middlge Ages would be ten thousand, maybe a little more. Ever heard of the Battle of Evesham? Simon de Montfort died there, his army butchered by the then Prince Edward. Edward had only recently destroyed Simon's son's army, which was ambushed at Kenilworth Castle. Bran de Monfort had his army reduced by around 2/3ish, having only about 1500 men after the ambush (He started with 4000). This army, which he was leading to join his father, would have given Simon de Montfort double the size of Edward's army. This implies the battle wasn't a clash between tens of thousands, but only in the single thousands.

Thats cause the Hundred Years Wars had a bunch of barbarian monkeys in clothes pretending they had something to fight over. In the Battle of Valea Alba, Voivode Stefan cel Mare had 20,000 soldiers and fought about 100,000 Turks. Against Vlad Dracula, Fatih Mehmed II brought 300,000 men according to Turkish historian Tursun and the Verona chronicles of Cristoforo confirm this. And there are countless other examples of higher numbers. I'm trying to find a bit of a medium. I think the issue with western chronicles is also that they tended to count only Knights and professional troops since they didn't put much importance on irregulars. In any case the battle is meant to be one of the "epic" ones.

Wooly, it's cause he doesn't go on fapping on constantly about non sense that I know you'd do given the numbers. You're always fixated on trying to do something or prove something or just do something that makes no sense or fit in with the RP at all. And this is coming from a guy who pretty much lets anyone do whatever they want.

Now so everyone knows I didn't get a chance to post last night and I don't think I will tonight again. I'm busy with life but i'll try to drop some lines eventually either later tonight or tomorrow.

You have just pissed me.....pissed me off a lot.

At the end of this battle, we will see if you are wrong or right. If you want to go [censored] at me, fine, I don't care.

Show yourself capable as a writer bit by bit and with that you get more and more responsibility. Stamping your feet like a kid doesn't get you anywhere. I'm not angry i'm just trying to keep the thing going smooth. To me it isn't about winning or losing, it's about writing a story with other people as a hobby. If I had the motivation to do this stuff by myself I wouldn't be here. Just take it easy and enjoy the company.

Oh wow.. Just wow. What the hell is this ? It's not supposed to be a competative sport or something, it's not a WoW Raid or what ever, it's collaborative stoytelling between a bunch of writer's with an ever changing ever evolving story. Theres no need for that kind of aggression from some friendly advice from the RP's creator.

Whatever, I don't want to make a big drama issue out of it. Just want people to be aware.

Anyway Anticlere is going to post up a map I made denoting some troops and i'll discuss it. For the sake of simplicity for every post concerning the battle I want at the top of the post "BATTLE OF DUNKARN HAVEN" so it's easier to find what we need. Try to keep posting pace fairly slow and talk with the people you are RPing with. Nothing svcks more than having to delete your whole post cause you weren't paying attention.

Okay so the map basically shows the Breton forces of Tudor. As you can see it's also a topographical map. The Triangles are my Longbowmen. The blocks on the left are the cavalry and the longer blocks to the right are the pikemen line which extends .9 Kilometers. The brown line infront is a trench about thigh deep and 2-3 feet wide. The green on the right is the forest. The wiggly lines in the middle are there to denote slightly hilly terrain.

Battle of Dunkarn Haven was meant for the RP thread not this one btw...

He didn't have to say that. I know it is a RP, but that doesn't mean you have to personally insult me.

Anyway, I am done with this subject.

FYI, Solidor, Wooly, and company.... especially Immortal Blood. Your posts do not always need to be long. In fact, I myself would prefer you MODERATE the size of your posts. Too long, and people -like myself- will lose interest quickly and skip over it all. Having a huge post pertaining to One single character is in my opinion just too much.

I disagree. I've always hated having to interact with other characters when they dont give me alot to work with, because i cant gve much in return then and it ends up being a short crappy post. Besides, the RP doesnt move fact enough for long posts to be a problem really. And my last few where 4pages + long, but thats because i had to squeeze alot in for almerion in as few posts as possible so i could get back to interacting with other people. They wont always be like that, but they wont be short either. 2pages min nom nom nom

Anyone else notice GeraldDuval's posts to be quite...well...evil?
No offense, but I get scared reading them...

Plus some of the words you use, probably didn't exist back then.
Those type of words seem more modern, thanks to rap music and whatnot.

Length =/= quality post. And interaction is the golden part of rping, even when crappy, you must find a way to deal.

There is no back then since its a fantasy world but I know what you mean ^_^

I believe it all comes down to being a stylistic choice for the author.

And I agree with FC4, I appreciate long and well written posts but skip over them until I have the discipline to read them all. I enjoyed both thoroughly though.

In my case Length does make quality. Or well most of the time, if i limit myself i find i have very little freedom when it comes to writing, It's been a long time since i joined these forums and poset a four or five line paragraph, I wont be going back. Besides, your not involved with my characters yet, so you could easily skip my posts and come back to them if your bored and feel like reading something. Thats what i do any ways with most of the posts, i've only really been following Immortal on his Skaven posts, gerald duval because i love his writing and Wooly because he's in my faction.

The rest of he time i like to follow each little sub plot in order rather than post after post, so example, if PFA and Phantasm have alot of character interaction i'll go back to the start and read only their posts up untilpresent, skiping all posts in between. And i'll do the same again and again unil i've read eveything. It helps me stay more active and gives me a clearer view of whats going on in the RP as a whole

It's not like you would miss anythin of importance, if i did something that would affect any of your characters or ambitions i'd warn you on this thread. Oh and FC4, if you have MSN could you add me? I've ran an idea past Immortal and PFA and i want to run it past a few more of the veteran time line members if you wouldnt mind.

You'd be surprised how old some curses are. Read an unabridged version of the odyssey and you'll read worse. Hell they found porm carved on the pyramids and insulting graffitti painted in the alleys of pompeii.

http://www.pompeiana.org/Resources/Ancient/Graffiti%20from%20Pompeii.htm

Just to give you a taste. Even this though has been censored somewhat. Replace defecate and fornicate with the roman equivalent of said swear word and thats a bit more accurate.

*edit* after re-reading some of my favorites, I love that pooping on the street was apparently a common problem there. I think its hilarious and awesome how some things never change...
