Is "Immovable" too powerful?

Post » Sun Feb 16, 2014 7:30 pm

I already have formed the opinion that, at least in PvP, Heavy Armor offers far too many advantages over light and especially medium armors, but regardless of that...

The Heavy Armor skill "Immovable" seems to be extremely powerful and almost necessary for PvP. With one cast, you receive physical and magic based damage mitigation, but the real treat is being immune to knockbacks and 'disabling' effects for 8 seconds, and you can morph it to last longer.

We all know how good CC and stuns are in PvP, and this ability just seems like it will be too good.

Is there any kind of CC that bypasses this ability?

I may be wrong about this but I don't think snaring or rooting effects count as "disabling", so perhaps those would still work.

If snares and roots work against it, then it would be more than fine... lots of access to those for the most part. I just wasn't sure what counted as a disabling effect. Still am not sure, hehe.

Don't forget they sacrifice a ultimate slot for it as well though.

But yea, I hope slows still work even with that, would make no sense seeing a 2h going on a rampage and just being immune to anything you could possibly do, get 50 of these and charge through a gate, voila endless carnage lol.

Slows better work on that.

Eh, I don't think it is, but I use it a lot so maybe I'm biased.

It's not an ultimate, costs stamina. The scenario you described is what has me concerned.

Lets not forget that anyone can use stamina to break CC type skills too.

Abilities that grant CC immunity for a short duration are a fairly common occurence in MMO′s. I don′t really see a problem with that.

Its actually pretty balanced. All characters can break CC and become immune for 8 seconds, but it costs like 50-80% of you stamina. (not sure on the exact amount)

Heavy armour get access to the same skill at a much lower stamina cost and takes up 1 of 6 skill slots.

Light armour and Medium Armour get bonuses to magica and stamina respectively. So light-armour magica uses don't really worry about stamina as much, while medium armour gets bonuses to it. Heavy armour passives tend towards melee damage (stamina based) but do not get bonuses to stamina. To make up for it they can CC immune for a lesser cost.

So yeah, its pretty balanced.

It depends what are disabling effects and how much stamina it requires...

I think you can use immovable regardless of what armor you are wearing. Full medium with immovable for example..

Correctamundo. I wear light and use it in my PvP and PvE builds.

I didn't know that the baseline stunbreaker granted you immunity for 8 seconds... that certainly makes this skill less amazing, but it brings up the question of how useful CC even is. 8 seconds is a long time in PvP, especially with a melee class beating on you.

@STX Ikr.

I read 8 seconds on the forum so i dont' have official confirmation atm.

If as long as the stamina cut is a high % of max staming (and not a flat amount) and stam regen isn't SUPER fast so a lot of melee skill based damage should be weakened for those 8 seconds, and if they continue to spam abilities then they wont be able to CC break again.

IDK how this will work with magica based characters though.
