Impact of Intelligence on Survival

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2016 3:08 pm

I've been playing a few days and have a nice 120+ dweller vault going. I know they say Strength has an impact on Damage dealt, but what I have noticed most is the impact of Intelligence.

I have Medbay and Science Lab with 5 or 6 relatively high Intelligence Dwellers. What I have strongly noticed is how quickly all Radroach and Fire Incidents are quickly put out. Much quicker then in my Powerplants filled with high Strength.

Any way we can test this out?

hmm, is your science lab smaller than your power plants? from what I can tell, small rooms finish incidents a whole lot faster than large rooms, even when both are full, (a small room with 2 will finish a incendent faster than a large room with 6, all things equal) I know my science lab is smaller than my power plants.

Have you tried moving the high intelligence Dwellers to safe places like storage and empty Living Quarters then swapping the strength Dwellers with the Intelligence ones? The reason I say to move them is that you won't be able to chose which move. I personally think some rooms are toned down. I have all the Training rooms and I made them three wide. I have them filled with 6 people thinking that if they are alone they will be overrun by Radroaches. However, I have been noticing that only one spawns and they kill it easily. As if Bethesda thought they may be undermanned and toned it down for training rooms. That's why I say swap the exact same six people by temporarily moving them to another location so you can control who goes where.

I have noticed same what @Sharlikran said, only few radroaches spawns in those rooms. But i definitely will try to do experiment on Power plant with High Intellect just in case to see the difference :)

Thanks for trying that bankeris. However, I'm more interested in him using his exact Dwellers. By switching them it will show if it's the room or the Special. Your stats could be different then his.

Well just tried to do experiment.

My 5 best Intellect dwellers went to Water Treatment Plant i made 1 accident - 4 radroaches

My 5 best Intellect dwellers went to Science Station i made 4 accident - 1(3 radroaches), 2(3 radroaches), 3(3 radroaches), 4(3 radroaches)

My 5 best Intellect dwellers went to Hospital i made 1 accident - 3 radroaches

So totally 6 accidents. in Science Station and Hospital always 3 radroaches. While Water Treatment Plant had at first test 4 radroaches.

It seems radroaches depends not from Dwellers but from the Room type and size.

5 dwellers - because on my iPhone i don't have more :)

It's definitely the room. The Medbay and Science Labs are indeed toned down during attacks. It is not related to Special at all, or at least noticably.

This can be useful when needing extra Stimpacks. You can run up the Rush risk to 70-80% and not worry about anyone getting too hurt. This also came in handy when I had a Put Out 24 Fires task. My lab workers quickly put out every incident on the way to a quick free Lunchbox reward.

Little things like this help us understand the game more and more.

It's more complicated then just having Hospital attacks toned down. I built a second 3x3 Hospital at level -12, my original was on level -3. Incidents at level -3 are always toned down, while attacks on level -12 aren't so much. Even when moving the same occupants to the other rooms, it remains the same.

Also sometimes it appears that attacks in rooms with lower level Dwellers are usually stronger, involving more Radroaches, then rooms filled with high level Dwellers.
