Impact of naming baby?

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 6:58 pm

Everyone is talking about voiced hero and more guns etc but theres got to be a reason why if you named your kid that you actually voiced its name
2 assumptions
One the kid is still alive and has a major role in story and other characters reference his/her name
And or
With our voice other characters call us by our name instead of vault guy/wanderer
This could be really groundbreaking!!! More do than being hswke in da2 or the inquisitor

Eventually doneone will come out with the
List of the posdible names

Side note was the robot servsnt the voice of mercer in skyrim

I wasn't aware you could name the kid.

Its said you are the only one leaving the vault alive. this gives two options. Either partner and kid is dead or they escaped earlier and part of your quest is to find them.

Or they are both dead and you're just a replicant of some sort?

Surely there would have to be limits in this area though?? They wouldn't get that many npc actors to go through a list of 1000 names would they, that is a lot of lines of budget gone to add that each time (and then in all the different languages).

I have to admit I thought naming the baby was a bit odd if it was going to be dead shortly, so it must live somehow, or you find out the history of the child later. Can't imagine another reason to need to name it.

Yep. My money is on this. It is the only thing that makes dramatic sense.

Do you do the right thing by the wasteland by stopping them? Or do you risk it all on trying to bring them back from the brink of destruction as the parent they never knew?

Todd actually gave away that the baby lives by something he said during the character creation process.

"We use the appearance of the two parents you customize to generate a unique baby based on their appearance."

There is no way a "unique baby appearance" is done for the that tiny baby model wrapped in a blanket besides changing skin tone. Instead, we are going to encounter a grown advlt child who looks eerily familiar..... probably as an adversary.

Yeah but 200 years later the 'child' would have died of old age a 100 years ago. Will be interesting to see how it plays out, but in honestly it may have just been the skin color that changed since two black people with a white baby would have looked odd.

I'm going to make a white blond blue eyed man and Asian woman just to see how that turns out.

like this:

pre war, you make it into the vault, your spouse and kid don't.

200 years later you emerge, to find that your kid meanwhile turned into the evil boss dude in the vertibird from the trailer and you'll have to make the decision to kill him.

(or maybe the evil org had casted your baby as suitable material to be formed to take a leading position right away, and had you cryo'd so they'd have someone that baby would listen to as an insane dicator grown up as a backup plan :-)

It's going to be so trippy if that you lived in the Vault for 20+ years (giving enough time for the baby to grow into an advlt), you and your baby were cryogenically frozen and as it turns out, your baby left the Vault 60 years ago. Imagine lmao... you leave the Vault to find your child, only to learn he's looks like a 80-year old man with a father who looks in his mid 20's/early 30's.
