But since we know nothing about them, what does that make you (all that so eagerly choose the windy cloaks)...blind followers?!

No not blind followers, opportunists! Which seems better than backing an empire that is actively betraying its citizens, not to mention gradually losing its power. Besides, if the Stormcloaks are smart they won't make the same mistake the Elder Council did in Oblivion and refuse to appoint the hero their King, Emperor, or equivalent... if they're smart... :stare:

I was planning to side with the Stormcloaks but after learning that Saul Tigh is the leader of the legion army, I have to at least meet this guy and see what he has to say before deciding.

Also in order to learn more about the actor playing Ulfric Stormcloak, I watched two Vladimir Kullich movies yesterday, 13th Warrior and Ironclad (on Netflix streaming) - both were actually pretty good films.

First character: Rebels
Second character: For the highest bidder
Third character: Empire

Also I fashioned backstories to why is it they fight for one side or the other (or both as the case may be). I think it will be fun to see just how each side works, what do they believe in and even if there is a chance for peace. That would be my favourite option I think.

Rebels.

I've been killing Imperials since Morrowind, can't wait to finally be rid of the empire.

Things like this are usually geared towards picking the rebels - their cause is usually a just one

I'd hope it's not so clear cut here, in which case I'll have to wait and form a view, albeit instinctively I'd say I'll probably end up following the stormcloaks

Yey, that is another big reason for me to join the Empire i mean its Saul Tigh !! !(for the people who dont know who that is, he is the Executive Officer (XO) of Battlestart Galactica, and repeatedly serves as acting commander in the absence of William Adama) I can never fight vs him, i like him too much :) plus it would be so awesome to hearing him and i hope he curses a lot lol, Michael Hogan will crush the rebelion !!!

Only the Dragonborn can wear the Amulet of Kings. Only the Dragonborn can light the Dragonfires. The illegitimate Emperor shall be slain, and all will rejoice at the return of Ysmir, the new Emperor, the bringer of a new Era.

Holy crap thats a good point. My Argonian should be emperor of the Imperium, not that usurper! I'm still joining the legion though..

stormcloaks fo sho.

with the septim line defunct and cyrodiil effectly exhausted from the whole oblivion hullabaloo, they're going to want to look after themselves first! and that's fine, look after your own before you go extending your hand to foreign powers! but, this means that if the empire was made to choose between maintaining the homeland or skyrim, skyrim would definitely be left in the cold. that's why i support independence for skyrim! (: if the empire cannot look after its territories, then the territories should separate and learn to become self-sufficient without having to pay the inevitable tax hikes / goods trading fun times that comes along with the homeland being beaten down by the daedra fiasco.

tl;dr "no hard feelings empire bros, but we're outtie!"

From my own personal standpoint probably rebels but since this is a video games I will crush the swineish rebellion (while listening to john williams's imperial march)
, I mean I would probably sell both parties out to the Dark Brotherhood but that's just me.

Is it confirmed that we can choose the Stormcloacks? I vaguely remember that Todd Howards said during the E3 that we could choose between 4 factions, Mage Guild, Thieves Guild, Legion and Dark Brotherhood.

I hope I am wrong.

I will just say that I'm pretty sure that in the main quest line, we will be forced to choose a side. I don't think that the Civil War story line is seperate from the Dovahkiin story line, or Alduin story line. If you choose to do the main quest, you WILL be forced to choose a side. Kind of like the main quest line of Fallout New Vegas. And that's my instincts talking.

Ive said it before and It say it again.
I didn't pistol whip martin into action just to have the empire be torn apart by filthy illiterate peasants 200 years later.
I chose empire.
I would have the empire logo flying high from dawnstar to winterhold...or nothing at all.
Id rather see skyrim burn then see it fall to "Freedom Fighters"

I think you will be forced to pick a sides, since they announced that famous actors will cast as the leader of the Stormcloacks and as the leader of the Imperial Legion so i am almost 100% sure we will have to pick sides at least at the end, go go empire!!!

You dare oppose the might.....of the IMPERIAL LEGION?

Go legion, basically. Though I plan on making a Nord character for the main quest, and he will probably support the Stormcloaks.

the empire, at its greatest, was nothing without akatosh, who abandond them after the pact was fulfilled in oblivion. now they even cast away talos, i dont worship the divines (i prefer deadra) but that act will cause major repercussions, weaking them considerably

btw, love the avatar, higurashi is awsome

I cant decide..... Im not for the Empire most of the time, but with all the crap that has been happening around Tamriel, a unified nation might help for a while

Though I do hate Imperials

It would make the game much more interesting if it wasn't rebels vs empire, it was a fight for the leadership of the country so you'd have the backing to make a new empire. That way holds have more incentive to switch sides and the politics get hairy.
The Empire is Law. The Law is Sacred.
Different empire, so the law is dead?
