[Spoilers] Imperial legion(empire) or Stormcloacks(rebels)

Post » Thu Sep 29, 2011 10:20 pm

IMHO Mede and his heirs are just using the mess of the post-oblivion crisis to further the family's power and influence, that's why the most recognizable member of the last regime was banished, just sounds to me like its another powerful corrupt dynasty fighting bloody struggle after bloody struggle, just to hold on to as much power as humanly possible, no matter what the cost. The empire as we all know it has been gone for 200 years..

The stormcloaks might not be perfect and might be supporting someone no better than Mede, but for the time being they need to unite as an independent skyrim under the leadership of nords. A Imperial warlord and his sons should lead cyrodiil, not skyrim..

Yup, i had my doubts of either i should go side with the empire on my 1st playthrought but when i read that Michael Hogan will act as Imperial General Tullius, in charge of crushing the Stormcloak rebellion, nothing can make me play the rebels i am all set up :)

I cannot make a decision yet.

Both based on the fact that:

-My characters aren't made yet and it's their choice

-I don't know enough about the factions themselves

This, this and this. I generally like the idea of being a rebel - Star Wars, anyone? - and "Stormcloaks" is a cool name for a rebel faction. It depends on which I interpret as the "good guys" though, as my first character is largely a good fella.

Whoever is just and honourable. I will pick the side of right. Even if that goes against already affiliated side. Because you can't betray those that betray themselves.

The Septim Empire was fabulous, maybe Talos was outlawed because he is a Septim? The Mede's wouldn't want people worshipping a god king from a different Emperor line. If the Empire is worth saving, i'll join them. If they are a bunch of prats. I'll help in their demise.

I'll have to learn more before I can make a decision.

It was the Legion who aided the Orcs of Orsinium against the Breton's and Redguard's, allowing them to retreat to Skyrim once Orsinium was lost.(See: Lord of Souls) However, the Nords gave those Orcs a home, as did they did the Dunmer. So I'm not sure honestly.

Fun Fact: http://ultima.wikia.com/wiki/Storm_Cloak is a powerful item in Ultima VI, one of Todd Howard's favorite game series of all time. I wonder if there was some inspiration there... Perhaps I should post that in the Ask the Devs thread.... AWAY!

If true, shouldn't that be tagged with some [censored] SPOILER tags? Or that idiot being directly banned?

I'm TIRED of being afraid of reading threads because of possible spoilers.

I'm pretty sure you don't get banned for spoiling one thing... Maybe a warning. Most likely a slap on the wrist.

But yes, that is true, and I feel your pain when it comes to being spoiled. The end of Red Dead Redemption got spoiled for me while it was sitting unopened on my desk the day of release. :/

Very true. I can't do anything about his post, but I guess I can spoiler my post.

You are asking people to use a spoiler tag for the names of the voice cast?

Michael Hogan was announced in Bethesda's widely distributed press release a couple of days ago. It's on the Bethblog.

I know (if wishes were horses)....I was just raged after reading that.

I think I'll just stop visiting the forums until the end of my 1st playthough. If what that idiot said was true, it's already 1 big spoiler I've eaten. But no more.

Yeah, I'll be gone before too long. I want to avoid as many spoilers as possible. I won't be back until I've finished the main quest and the faction quests. Or if I do, I will read extremely carefully!

I see - I completely understand, now. Yes this is a relatively important spoiler - unfortunately, this part was also revealed in Bethesda's press release (on Bethblog).

As more of these are likely to be revealed in the coming weeks we will try to ensure people use the "spoiler" tag, at least until we have a separate section for spoilers.

This is information actually from Bethesda's press release, not the hands on demo previews.

Going forward, please remember to use spoiler tags, as we don't have a separate spoiler section yet.

EDIT: I reviewed the press release and this spoiler you mentioned is not included - it seems to be from this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1234398-spoilers-mccools-lore-research-at-eurogamer-thread-2/

Am, didn't knew that (strange that I didn't read it, because I'm used to read BethBlog). Besides, that guy claimed his source was "some guys at whatever gaming convention Skyrim has been on", so that made me believe even more so... :(

In any case, I hope people begin putting some SPOILER tags for the new *argumental* info they release, or in topic posts. Otherwise, I'm afraid I won't see anything but tech-related posts :(

Well, good thing I've already chosen my side. So this spoiler won't really affect my gaming/roleplaying experience.

Well, neither mine, but...

Spoiler
I'd like to know why they murdered him. Was he corrupt? An Imperial marionette, or whatever? If their reasons are good, I won't hesitate to side with the Rebels. But if they've done it for some mad/stupid reason (pretty much like the Mythic Dawn in Oblivion)....errr....hmmm....I'd pass, thanks.

Whatever side still believes in Talos, and I don't think its the Empire anymore.

I guess this here. If Talos appears to be the guy helping the Dragonborn.

I'll have to wait and see till I play the game; The fact that the Empire have
Spoiler
outlawed the Worship of Talos
has somewhat dented my loyalty to them. I really want to find out why. I mean, if it's just because he was a Nord, then that's pretty, meh in my books. Also I consider it's kind of insulting to the Septim line on the whole. Since figures like Martin and Uriel were still essentially Imperial. Just be interesting to see how the view on the Septims have became since the Medes came into power.
