Imperial Legion vs Nord rebels

Post » Mon Nov 01, 2010 4:19 am

The Imperial Legion was my favorite 'guild' in Morrowind. Starting as a recruit, rising in rank, working at various strongholds and through that ganing new equipment was very cool and rewardng.

Now we know that the empire still has some hold of Skyrim as some cities remain loyal. We also know that others do not. In the case that this conflict isnt settled during the main quest this presents an opportunity. What if we could join the legion as well as the faction of nords that rebels against them.

You would be working for various nordic elders and imperial officers around Skyrim. Rising in rank and gaining Imperial and viking gear along the way. Quests would consists out of spying missions, messenger assignments, recruiting and also all out battles between the two factions.

I certainly would love to be able to join the Legion again, and in a province that is half against the Empire, it would be even more fun! A suggestion like this isn't going to make it in game unless it was part of their plans though. I am sure by this point, all the the factions that will be in-game have already been decided and worked on.

I know but with enough support it might be part of a expansion pack. It would be the Knights of the Nine expansion for Skyrim, stick to the same map but add a faction.

This might increase support for the idea:
Nord faction = VIKING CLAN

Yea I could see that... BUT haha, I bet you their next DLCs are already planned out as well. I think we will see something though, and I know a lot of people complained about not being able to join the Legion in Oblivion, so there is a chance they'll make it joinable this time around. There will always be Mods too.

With the civil war thing going on, I'd like some more guilds - anti-imperial and imperial/empire-friendly Nordic. And let that affect the main quest. Some more factions like in Morrowind, but joining Redoran or Hlaalu should have consequences.

I might make use of those mods in 2014 when I get a machine that can run it. But I still have to get myself to play the PC version of Oblivion for the mods, but at this point it just isn't as interesting anymore.

And people remember.....

It would be pretty interesting to join either the Nords or the IMperial Legion, kinda like the Shivering Isles expansion.

It would be fun to see at least part of the Imperial Legion and the Imperial Cult as "bad guys" serving Alduin even though he is no longer bound to the service of the Imperials.

Where in the article does it say the imperialists are Cyrodilics? The previous king, or his forebears, united Skyrim, and formed the Second Empire of Man. The war's between loyalists to his line and secessionists. Correct?

I'm just really [censored] tired of Cyrodiil and "Imperials," right now.

That is an interesting way to view it. But I hope it is left for the interpretation of the gamer whether or not they are evil. The cult for example might honestly believe that praising Anduin will save the world, and until proven otherwise they might have a point. SImiliar to Morrowind where Vivic was a liar but his explanation for acting as if he was a god wasn't that strange. Unlike Oblivion where it was 'good' vs 'evil' with no redeeming factor. But it is an interesting idea, you could join either side and feel as if your doing the right thing.

EDIT: Almost forgot,

How about House Redoran causing trouble on the border?

The article states that some cities remain loyal to the empire. Which has to be the third empire founded by the Septims. And if your sick of them then why not join the VIKINGS?

i would be surprised if they didnt have some quests revolving around helping the pro-imperials or the rebels. its a center point of the story and it just seems like a shoe in for quest designing. i can think of ten quests right off the top of my head instantly that could be done with something like this.

Ofcourse, but to me it is important that it is done in the framework of a faction. Including rewards, ranks and the feeling of accomplishment.

Agreed. Leave the Mede empire out of the game, and let us just deal with the politics of Skyrim as is. Hell, Cyrodiil was hardly back together when Titus was in charge, and I liberally use the word hardly.

Also, leave Morrowind out of this too. It got nuked pretty badly, and due to how slow mer breed, it'll be a while before we'll see anything resemble a house brought back up. The only house I could see somewhat surviving is maybe a few scattered Telvanni and Hlaalu. Dres would likely have been hugely demolished by the argonian invasion (doesn't help Dres lived right next to Black Marsh). Redoran and Indoril were in huge steep decline, and the Oblivion Crisis, along with the Red Year + argonian invasion would have been the final blow.

I'd love BOTH! Naturally, first I'd play an anti-imperialist Nord, but I'd also love to join the Imperial Legion! :D

There is hardly a [censored] Cyrodilic empire! I honestly do not believe the Medes have the power to reconquer Tamriel again. Hell, they were barely holding onto Cyrodiil. So get this idea of fighting the man out of your heads, especially when spy reports make it sound like it really freaking svcks to be a spy there. If you want Skyrim to be interesting, demand that it's one city state vs. another vs. another.

There is no more Empire. It has died out with Septims.
there is Cyrodilian Empire, but no Tamrielic Empire.

If there must be something Imperial in the Civil War, there should be Traditional Nords Vs. Imperialized Nords (those who support the old Imperial ideals). Tough I'd prefer if it was more varied then that with all Skyrim kingdoms fighting against one another.

It's also possible Game Informer is wrong or misunderstand what they were told, the whole preview is rather "streamlined" anyway.

It says the Skyrim King died and set of a "potential" civil war between Secessionist and Imperialists Nords...

1. We know that Skyrim need to be a in a civil war for "they" to return.
2. The "Empire" died with Martin, the only thing that remains 40 years later is a bunch of warlords trying to conquer their neighbours...and Nords are usually the first to do so.
3. Skyrim have always fallen back into in-fighting without a strong king at the helm (who just happened to die recently).

A hunter/beastslayer faction?, take on quests hunting and killing ruthless monsters and take trophies. earn more respect in your faction and maybe get some quests from locals who have heard about you?
