The Library is a collection of texts.

These include:

* Most of the in game books from all games.
* The conversations in main story lines for each game.
* The text of Pocket Guides to the Empire.
* Interview with developers about lore.
* In character posts made by developers
* A few well written guides checked for accuracy.
* A handy timeline of events.
* An archive of insightful discussions of the community from before 2002.
* A collection of semi-scholarly texts written by members of the forum of varying quality and accuracy.

It also had an extensive cartography section, art from the games, official introductions to the games, easter eggs and developer weaseling, and info about things that were originally supposed to be in games but were not added, as well as a great little forum. The new library will have all of that, plus a section on the Infernal City and an easier editing system (which means the librarians can add even more cool stuff).

Cool. Thank you both of you for that. That really clears things up for me. Much appreciated.

Ah yes, how is the new site adressing the Infernal City? Quite obviously can't have the book on the site, so in terms of making references to the book, how will this be acheived? Quotes from the book? Page notation about specific pieces of lore?

As Lady N has mentioned, we haven't really discussed that all yet because we are busy copying information over to the new format. If all goes according to plan, the Library should be back up around Monday. I would guess that 60% of the stuff has been moved. Once the Library is open, we can work a lot faster. I have hired an assistant. ;)

I would like to see a summary of the story in the novel (not sure how long it will be or how to organize it yet. Chapters? Parts?) I would also think Lady N's wonderful, detailed lore anolysis would be organized in a way which would be the most beneficial to us. I will leave it up to her to decide how best to organize it once online.

We will open up TIL before we are 100% finished. With only two of us working at the moment, if we waited until everything was completed, it would take weeks. It will be a work-in-progress and will resemble the old style as far as colors and basic layout, for the most part. Eventually, once everything is transferred, we well work on making it a beautiful as we can -- with Astion's help. We hope! ;)

How is it that you still have your 2001 join date and I do not have my 2002 join date?

Glad to hear the update, though. :)

http://www.imperial-library.info/ is back online; however, we still have a lot of work to do. It really is a work-in-progress. Our final design may be different from what you currently see, but rest assured, all of the wonderful material from Bethesda will eventually be back on our shelves. Please join our forums, post feedback, and even make recommendations. Check back often because updates will be coming frequently.

Thanks again for your patience and support.

Don't take this badly, but the brown and yellow looks a little 90's. :P

I noticed there's a login thing now. What I am wondering is what it is for?

Its your profile at the Library, both for the forums and (if you were able) for editing the site in general.

I'm looking for Zeph's TES Treasury Volume II on TIL, but apparently it hasn't been transfered too the new site yet. Can anyone help me finding it elsewhere?

The waybackmachine is a great way to browse TIL while its in transition in general, probably shoulda pointed that out back around the beginning of the thread.

The old page is located http://www.imperial-library.info/zeph/index.shtml. If you have the url it used to be at, just add /index.shtml to get to the archived page.

Progress on the library is going great. I highly recomend checking out the new pocket guides: they now include, for the first time ever on the internet, pictures from the printed guides (thanks, Pete). The 1st edition is also updated with comments from the design document (thanks, Michael). The Storyline section has also been updated with videos of the beginning and end of each game.

Why does TIL have both a new forum and the old forum?

Why does TIL have both a new forum and the old forum?

Because the new forum comes with the Drupal system on the new site, so it's replacing the old forum. The old forum will be online for some time to come for the purposes of copying over old content, onto the new forum, if said content is needed to be kept (in the case of RP's or important lore discussions, and so on), but will eventually be taken down all together.

You'll need to re-register on the new boards as the profiles on the old forum aren't being moved over (to much of a hassle for the Admins).

As TOYB said, the old forum is locked down and will be nuked... eventually. Moving everything over is essentially impossible, and I'm sure some people will be happy to have a fresh start. The new forum offers several great new features, including the same sort of customization available to us on the site itself (which means anything on the forum can be copy/pasted directly onto the site, which is infinitely useful for FSG). Besides the obvious posting perks, registering allows you to track all posts (including updates to the site) made by a member and view a chronological list of site updates (like the recent changes on wikipedia). Theres probably a ton of other stuff which I haven't discovered yet, too.

In other news, I'd say the move is almost done. There are still some things missing, but all the vital information has successfully moved over. I recently finished the new and (imo) improved http://www.imperial-library.info/content/translation-dictionary. It includes 50 new terms, and more are to come (some of which haven't been seen by man since 2002 :P).

Just an update that probably all are aware now. TIL is up for almost a month now, most of the contents have been transfered. The old forum is set to read-only.

Other than the update, I would like to point on the sticky posts on the top of this forum. The links are broken, also the information on those posts are created before the release of Oblivion. They need to be updated.

I'm actually 80% through a http://www.daryam.com/Lore/Index.html. A http://www.imperial-library.info/content/how-become-lore-buff-new-and-updated is posted up on TIL.
