Prologue: (Long bit)
For years now the house of Dareloth served at base of operations for the thievesguild, but the gray fox could still remember the meeting with his then superior Armand Christophe in the garden of Dareloth at midnight, many things had changed after Umbranox passed on his title to the current Grey Fox, under the rule of the newest Grey Fox the organization of thieves in the counties of Cyrodiil was reconstructed, each county now had a doyen who coordinated all local jobs and promotions of lower rank thieves.
Every month on the 11th all nine doyen would gather in the house Dareloth on the first floor for a meeting to discuss the plans and problems of the guild, and this meeting had been fixed on only one problem, one issue that has been causing a problematic unstableness in the guild. The lingering question whether or not the mages should be allowed as members of the thievesguild.
Silently sitting at the head of the long table at which the doyen of Cyrodiil were discussing the matter, the Grey Fox sighed and covered his masked face as the discussion went on and on with no clear end in sight.
"Guildmaster! The whole point of the Thievesguild is to unite the thieves for the preservation of our traditions and skills. We are thieves, through our skill and tools and deception we earned our fortune, not by using spells to lift the heaviest of loot without breaking a sweat."explained the bosmer doyen from Chorrol. "Nonsense, Our guild was founded because we have to ensure the thieves all have equal amounts of work and money, if we let too many Illusionists operate outside Guild regulations our guildmembers wouldn't stand a chance against the speed of rogue thieves. We are to keep our cooperation profitable, that is our goal. If the rogue thief has more benefits than the guildmembers the guild is pointless, therefor we must embrace the changes in thievery with open arms, more illusionist members means more efficient members and more profit for the guild and it's members, both illusionists and skills" replied the redguard doyen from Anvil
The Grey Fox sighed again and spoke for the first time since he opened the meeting "My apologies but I must say that you are wrong as well as right, both of you, The guild was created in honor of the grey fox, as his followers they had chosen to share their gains and their skills with one another, there never was such a thing as tradition in our guild, nor should there be such a thing. Any chance should be welcomed and integrated in the guild so everyone can benefit it, whether it is a new tool, some tips for the rookies or spells for our illusionist members.
"The sole purpose of the guild is based on the fact that together we can do so much more than alone, and who says there is such a difference between illusionists and skills, we're all thieves and all rob the property of richer people, we both have our tools to do our job and as guildmembers we help one another"
It was silent for a moment but then the newest doyen, an altmer lady who had become Armand's successor, stood up and broke the silence with a dead on response "But sir, with all respect discussing the matter of why we should or shouldn't recruit illusionists isn't going to solve the biggest problem we are facing now, the two sides have grown to hate one another, the public and imperial legion are noticing our internal problems, both sides I have to agree with, the skills for their need of fair competition and the illusionists who want some recognition for their own talents."
"I see where you are going, but we simply can't choose a side just like that, we need to keep the guild, the entire guild, united? no we need to let them decide who will earn the recognition as thief" the grey fox explained, half thinking out loud
"but guildmaster?how do you suggest we do we do that?" asked the bosmer doyen from Chorrol "With a Heist Rally!"
when the grey fox had said that a wave of surprise and protest went through the room, but the grey fox' decision was final, this matter will be settled like they did in ancient times through a heist rally?
Background:
It is the year 12 of the 4th era, Kvatch is almost completely rebuild and the imperial province and other western provinces are at peace for now, but that's not really important, what is is that we are now 12 years after the Thievesguild Questline.
The thievesguild has had problems for the last few months with the increased number of mages becoming thieves (Illusionists) who use their magic to make the job much easier than it is for all normal thieves working with the normal ways of stealth, the Skills.
The Skills want fair competition and to have the guild put a stop to the crime spree of the Illusionists who gain far more money and leave less things to steal for the Skills.
The Illusionists want recognition from the guild and it's members as actual thieves, but in the past months the problem has only worsened and the two sides have developed a hatred towards one another. This gave the leaders of the guild a hard job solving the problem.
