Imperial Race - are they human?

Post » Sun Mar 09, 2014 5:33 am

I've been trying to find some screenshots of the imperial race (without armor) online, but having difficulty. Are they the human race?

Yes, the Imperials are what you would call human. Here is a picture of your average Imperial, as they appear in Skyrim;

They look a lot like Bretons or Nords, but with much darker skin - only not as dark as Redguard. Most people liken them to the Romans.

In fact, they often have Latin names, and their armor is definitely Roman flavored.

But, If I understand this correctly.... If you took part in the Imperial Edition pre sale, any race can be an Imperial.

No, you can play an Imperial in any faction.

Yes, Imperials are a human race. Think of them more like the Romans.

I wonder if I would catch some flack if I play as an imperial. I will use the mount for sure -at least until I get better. But for those against the in game bonuses might gang up on imperials with a kill on site code..

I'm still deciding on whether I will play an Imperial or not, even though I purchased the imperial edition. I am definitely going with a Nightblade as my main. It's my understanding that I get all of the perks that come with the imperial edition no matter which race I choose, (other than the imperial race traits if choose another race) correct?

i assume you would need to discover the relevant book to be able to craft in the Imperial style as a non-Imperial though.

Play an Imperial, they're great. They also pretty much rule all of Tamriel in later history.

As for a name; add 'us' to the end of any name and you're golden. Is your name Robert? Robertus! Quin? Quintus! Mark? Markus!

That does seem to be the case based on the order site.... I suppose it wouldn't hurt to be an Imperial Nightblade, considering I don't want to be a Khajiit.

If you played Skyrim and selected Imperial as your choice for character, what was his race?

Still as you go through the character selection, you will notice that Imperials are human.

But Bretons have a bit of mer in their family tree that explains their affinity to magic.

They have a definite French flair. Look at the names, for example. :)

It's interesting that - strictly speaking - Imperials, Bretons, Nords are not races per se. They're more like nationalities, cultures, breeds - or, dare I say it - factions! I find the term "race" a little confusing in ESO land, as they're all humans. Then again, the term is used to denote cultural and aesthetic differences in the real world as well, so I suppose ESO is no less confusing or misguided than reality.

Yeah, race is a bit of a misnomer. They're different ethnic groups. However the humans, Orcs, Khajiit, Argonians and Elves are all different races. Dunmer, Altmer, Dwemer, Bosmer and Falmer are all Elves (Mer).
