Post » Wed Jul 24, 2013 10:54 pm

It's finally here! On paper-view HBO On Demand! the Skyrim General forums!

This is a duel. Between two custom NPCs(based entirely off of the Ebony Warrior - perks and stat wise). A duel to settle the score once and for all!(yeah right...) They're bad. They're big(9ft tall). They're tough. They represent their faction. They are the embodiment of their cause. This Civil War has gone on long enough! So, taking these two EQUAL in strength and fighting prowess warriors... Who will win??

Without further ado... Let's get ready to ruuuuumble!!!

At the Red corner, standing at 8 ft and 10 inches. Weighing in at 547 pounds.(Heavy Armor)

WHO WILL WIN???!!!

Let's get this match started!

*sorry, no video. You'll have to settle for 1st era slide-show illusion magicks.*

First batch(5 rounds)

2.) http://i.imgur.com/DRnxzPr.jpg

3.) http://i.imgur.com/R6529Cf.jpg

4.) http://i.imgur.com/8vOwvWr.jpg

RESULTS:

Imperial: 4

Stormcloak: 1

Observations: This was pretty one-sided...(I fixed this in the second and third batches so keep your axes sheathed). As you can see, I wanted to have the Stormcloak with a two-hander(Iron Battle-Axe) against the Imperial's sword and board(Imperial sword)... It may be the AI... but then it struck me that I forgot to tweak the enchantments to boost his two-handed instead of his one-handed! Sorry Stormcloak crowd. That was my age getting to me... It was Valdar's fault of course!

Second batch(10 rounds)

5.) http://i.imgur.com/ijV8plF.jpg

6.) http://i.imgur.com/cHQl43s.jpg

7.) http://i.imgur.com/IVO7KrP.jpg

RESULTS:

Imperial: 6

Stormcloak: 4

Observations: For this batch the Stormcloak went sword and board with a Steel sword.(identical damage to Imperial sword) They were pretty much 50/50. It would seem the Imperial's heavy armor + Reflect Blows gave that extra edge over the Stormcloak's Light armor + Deft Movement.

Third and final batch(5 rounds)

2.) http://i.imgur.com/S07NNUe.jpg

3.) http://i.imgur.com/GuraOMa.jpg

4.) http://i.imgur.com/aGODUfJ.jpg

5.) http://i.imgur.com/Ce1GNyF.jpg

6.) http://i.imgur.com/GOOKsyt.jpg

RESULTS:

Stormcloak: 3

Imperial: 2

Observations: Stormcloak went back to his trusty Iron Battle-axe and this time I gave him the correct enchantments to complement his two-hander. It made a notable difference. Still 50/50 but the extra damage from the Battle-axe gave him the edge over the Imperial's heavy armor this time.

Of these 5 rounds, the final deciding round for the Stormcloak... was 30 minutes long. 30 minutes.

The 30 minute round... Yes... I honestly thought it was never going to end.

Stormcloak: 1

Well, I hope you all enjoyed the show. From these battles(the 30 friggin minute round in particular) I truly felt the struggle for Skyrim. They accomplished exactly what I intended. To personify the stale-mate of the two. The Empire's desperation to persist. The Stormcloak's struggle to finally be independent, and free from a dying Empire, with their worship of Talos on the execution block. Just from watching these two duke it out, I truly felt the war... Far out man.
Discuss.

That Stormcloak was too drunk during the fights. the Wimperial had the advantage of convincing the Stormcloak to have a lot of drinks before the fight.

Civil war debate in 3...2...1...

edit: it was fun to read but I would have liked the Stormcloak to wear Nordic Carved.

I wouldn't count the first round due to the error involved.

edit:

Very epic and awesome though, Hev.

That was very nice Hev. Good job to both Imperials and Stormcloaks.

I prefer Nords as heavy armored warrior knight with maxed stamina and Imperials as a light armored warrior mage with a stamina & magicka mix.

I wonder if the Imperials could pull off restoration etc to balance the physical non-magicka strength of a Nord

That's why I made the second batch 10 rounds.

All-in-all they were exactly as I expected... equal. Though I suspect the Stormcloak did better with his Iron Battle-Axe. I would do a few more, but that one 30 minute round... by the gods...

I'm actually not surprised by the results. The fact that Imperials have armor with a better rating gives them a tremendous advantage from a gameplay perspective.

Yeah, I noticed that even in the third batch. Heavy Armor + Shield is ridiculous when fully perked out. In all the battles, ALL of them, the Stormcloak was ALWAYS the first to have to start healing... If neither of them had the ability to heal, it would have heavily(lol pun) favored the Imperial.

I'm surprised the Nords of these days even use magic.

To be quite honest, I find two-handed weapons way too slow and it's damage superiority over one handed weapons is minuscule especially if the person is dual wielding or carrying a shield. Dual wielding/ Sword+board FTW.

+1 I love the perks of having a shield. Useful against those damn frost mages.

What about if the two-handed has fully Smithed heavy armor v's a dual wielding / sword+board in light armor? Does the extra armor rating compensate the slower action?

Coming soon to a thread near you.

I have something planned for Nordic Carved and Ancient Nordic. In fact, I have something planned for all the armor/weapon types(Dwarven/Orcish/Elven/etc.) :geek: :chaos:

That would depend and usually a sword+board person would be decked out in heavy armor too.

Hopefully we'll see what happens once Hevnoraak finally gives the Stormcloaks some better armor.

I could set up two identicals. One will use sword and board. The other will dual-wield. Do you or anyone else want me to do a specific race/armor/weapon type?

Again, Ebony Warrior level stats and perks as usual.

Oh, so now we're talking gameplay. Nice. I have no idea how 3 Imperials lose to 3 Stormcloaks. Probably because they use Two Handed weapons while the Imperials are stuck with nothing but a sword.

Now, why do the Thalmor slaughter Stormcloaks 3v3?

Edit: These Thalmor foot sluggers don't use magic.

They all use magic actually, and you say that as if the legionnaires don't get wrecked as well.

I'm afraid not all the Thalmor encounters are magic users. Some are just regular foot soldiers. I also never said Imperials don't get slaughtered.
