Imperials, are you impressed?

Post » Wed Mar 19, 2014 3:53 am

I was looking forward to creating one but the racials and look just didn't do it for me. I wished they had included something to help them stand out just a little. The Imperial armor wasn't enough imo. As of now the biggest reason I'm still getting the imperial edition (physical) is for the mount and out of game items. The special race thing was a let down for me.

I made one and though it was ok only problem was I couldnt make it black, you can get a really tanned Imperial but wasnt the same as a redguard.

It made me realise anyone saying "IMPERIALS ARE OP" are completely misinformed. Racial abilities are in line with other races, nothing special. The imperial guy i made was hot. So i was happy. Nothing crazy though. Still probably going to be a Dark Elf :)

In lore, Imperials are "short" Normal human males [aka Imperials] are about 5'4" to 5'7" range. I am thinking that Orc's and Nords are about 6'0" to 6'3" range and both of them are "wide" (not fat, talking about shape compare to Altmer) Altmer are the tallest race going by lore, I am thinking about 6'4" to 6'7" range. They are built like "tooth picks" in shape -- tall and skinny. Argonains are about the same as Imperials in height, they too are built like a "tooth pick" Bosmer are the shortest race -- 4'8" to 5'2" Bretons are just about the same of Imperials. Khajiits just a little shorter then the Imperals, thinking about the 5'0" to 5'6" range(the sub race that we play anyways, other sub-races will make the Altmer look like ants in high [one of the sub-races are as tall as 20 Altmer standing on top of each other])

The lore does not give out the high numbers, but I give them just to help to give an idea of the height compare to other races. The numbers could be wrong (or right), just trying to "see" the races better and numbers can help with that.

I think we've got to a stage with collector's editions that it should be renamed to hoarder's edition instead, I can imagine a lot of people have shelves filled with statues, masks and other trinkets from a large selection of games by now. Anyway that's beside the point. Outside of the hoarder's edition, the digital items you receive aren't worth throwing down another £20 for a game already considered to be expensive for a PC digital version. The rings of Mara is something I could care less about because I'm not one of those people who aim to blast through the content, scanning the dialogue, not role play all in the hopes I can be the first person to get to the top of the mountain to shout out: "FIRST!". The mudcrab, I couldn't be a crab about, the horse would be useful however I do feel there is a bit of a detachment from the world when I'm just charging past it all but that's just me. And the Imperial armour style is something I'll eventually unlock anyway. This is however more easy for me because I've never had the desire to just play as an Imperial; my go-to race has been the Orsimer for quite some time now.

Thanks for the info. really clears things up for me. I thought that Orcs were the tallest but I did see many tall Altmers running around. I think my High Elf will be tall and muscular not like a toothpick. :)

Hahaha that would be epic if someone named their most expensive to Hoarders Edition, I know a guy that it would definitely fit on.

Orsimer is a cool race with an interesting lore. It would scare the (bleep) out of me if I saw one running towards me on the battlefield.

I didn't really know what an imperial was, I thought it was a special status that let you play any of the races in any faction.

I bought the imperial edition because of the horse.

And the mudcrab.

I wanted to support the game, so bought imperial edition. I'm impressed with the Imperial race. Still not impressed that it's not a standard feature. I'm turned off by the cross-alliance player races. The rest... eh.

thats because the regaurds are the one with the dark complexion, remember that this world isn't really the same as ours, the races aren't all the same, they're that, races. and they don't really mix.

IIRC In the TES universe when two races do the dirty the offspring takes the race of the mother, so you don't really get that much "half this, half that" except in extreme cases like the bretons. also fun fact, in TES redguards also aren't considered human, as they didn't come from the nedes, which were considered the 'proto-men', like every human race did.

What is a mer? I saw some NPC's calling people mers and from context I thought it meant "person" or just "elf" but I'm not sure.

Also what is an Imperial? And what are Redguards if not humans?

Mer are the elven races. Then there's the lesser races of man like Imperials and Redguards :)

mer are elves, basically anything with the name mer at the end of it is an elf, orismer, dunmer, dwemer, altmer, bosmer etc.

imperial is the name given to humans which lived in cyrodiil at the start of the first empire, before that they were just referred to as "cyrods", though there were two specific types of cyrods, but once the first empire was created they were just called imperials.

im not sure, but like I said, they didn't come from humans, so they're redguard I guess? every race was placed there by the gods, and slowly diverged over time into mutiple races. all elfs come from the aldmer, all men come from the nedes, all argonians came from the hist, I think all khajiit were elves too but don't quote me on that. but as far as we know redguards they have always been redguards, we don't really know anything about them from before they nuked their homeland into the ocean.

Well it's already bad enough climbing up a hill only to see a battalion of enemy players coming over the ridge, I'd love to see an Orc raiding party - hmmm, idea for a PVP guild!

this make me gringe a little bit, care to explain?

Max health by 12% = good for everyone, i can understand why its more appealing for a tank

Max stam by 10% = No relation to tanking since puncture can be up on one target. Its for melee weapons attack (and bow) or armor. It also buff the dps of these attacks

Red Diamond (10% chance to heal by "i think its like 69 at the end?" lets make it a 100 just for the sake of exemple) So basically every MELEE ATTACK HIT you will heal yourself for 10 hp. When at the end you can have 2500 hp upward, 10 a swing is pretty lame. Of course not knowing red diamond final number its harder to say if its a game changer or not.

Any classes can be a tank with these racials, not only a dragon knight. Classes use mana. Thats why im making an Altmer Dragon knight tank.

Faster magicka regen = better uptime on my dots, aoe, obsidian shield.

More magicka = more cast and more damage from magicka based attacks

and lastly 6% more damage from fire attacks.

ha, maybe, though a good portion of their homeland is still afloat, it just got turned into a small island kingdom. I wouldn't [censored] with them though.

Speaking of the races in general, did anyone else play a Khajiit?

In my opinion, it would be a personal preference if they tailored the speech to NPC's like how NPC's talk. I notice that Khajiit speak in third person (Raz thinks this, Raz this and that) and they say "This one" a lot. I would think that talking back to NPC's I would speak like that too.

Just little things like that would go a long way.

Anyone else think so too? I'm sure other races have special quirky things in their vocabulary that you'd like to be reflected in your dialogue options when moving through quests.
