Imperials no Female Guards?

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 12:20 pm

The empire is clearly misogynistic.

The only female officers I have seen have not been far from papa Tullius's view.I wonder if this puts a new spin on "serving under" the general.

Do any Imperial camps have Female oficers or troops? Why doesn't the Empire allow women to actually patrol simple you can't cook if you are out of the Kitchen.

I find the Empires stance towards women shameful.

Should you take this post serious.... No.
The Imperials are as mysoginistic as the Stormcloaks are racist

This would make since if it wasn't for the fact that a lot of the Imperials are also Nords also your argument doesn't hold up because there are already Women included in the Imperials in positions of authority. Political correctness, has nothing to do with this conversation, it seems strange that in a game where women are predominantly involved in the quest chains, including combat, it seems out of place when they are suddenly excluded.

Totally agreed. Not everything is a reaction to 'over-the-top' feminism. Personally I'd prefer things to make sense. If I thought that this had to do with Imperial culture being somewhat misogynist opposed to it just being an oversight then I'd be fine with it.
Maybe I totally missed the point in terms of how equality works in the Empire. I'll have to pay a little more attention, I guess.

There was a named female guard in Oblivion who you had to kill for the DB, as far as I remember.

If it's true the audio files exist and there are female officers I think it's pretty conclusive it's an oversight. One that would be a very low priority for Bethesda to address.

Sigh...

Not everything needs to have a woman in it just as not everything needs to have a man in it. Why should it even be an issue? because of present day over-the-top feminism and political correctness?

For me, I think it`s to give that historical `Roman` feeling. A military warrior woman in every ancient warrior thing actually does feel less `real` and in a way less `harsh` in a world where mere brawn should advantage a man more than a woman. To me, it also makes the Imperials feel a little more tougher (as in the real thing). Also, there is a woman Imperial captain in the game which I see is a political consideration to show that the Imperials do `consider` women warriors in their ranks, but just not much. You probabaly have to be a really tough women to make it in the Imperials and not one to cause a `where are all the women?` scene either.

Now the Stormcloaks are different they`re part of a culture where women warriors are not unheard of and is in fact, welcomed (shield maidens, etc). I think the differences actually add a sense of REALITY to the game.

If I had it my way I have a more extreme system where women warriors were the exception (you saw them but not many) and that issues existed, just as I would make race a more obvious situation as I notice that race, especially khajitts and Argonians are totally unnoticed.

Agreed.

I'm fine with the way it is now. Do we seriously need to add a few girl legionaries instead of focus on other, more productive game issues and ideas?

Heck, the female legionaries will just complain about their knees and curved swords. It's not like it would be anything special then say spears added to te game or something actually useful.

They'd just be female variants of male guards. There's already tons of female soldiers (stormcloak) and town guards (Whiterun guards). It is silly to complain about the legion including few of them.

Tell me, why should Bethesda focus on including more female legionarries then say, spears or dlc?

Ironically I only started this thread simply because I thought it was strange that they had female guards for one faction and not for the other, and somehow it’s turned into a social commentary on feminism. I don’t really care if it gets changed or not I simply thought it was odd, because it doesn't seem logical, because you would think the guard NPC was basically the same only with different uniforms.
