Imperials no Female Guards?

It seems a little querky but the Stormcloaks have Female Guards but not the Imperials, it seems strange especially for a game where you can be male or female. Your Opinion

Lord Vader, we don't recruit female stormtroopers, the armour doesn't fit them, hehe.

There were no female Imperial guards in Oblivion (or in Morrowind, as far as I can remember) either. I don't know why Bethesda made this decision.

Nope, there were females in the Legion in Morrowind, but you never saw them outside the forts.

Morrowind had a couple I think. There was a dark elf in the barracks at Ebonheart and the commander at the fort near Ald-ruhn come to mind. Skyrim has the ***** trying to cut your head off and Legate Rikke but no grunts.

You mean none in Imperial Armour?
I have seen female guards in Imperial cities, like Falkreath I think.

I guess I make a distinction between "guard" on the one hand and "soldier" or "officer" on the other hand. When the OP uses the word "guard" I personally don't think of "soldier" or "officer." I think of the actual guards who stand near city gates, patrol streets and farms and arrest you after a crime.

If we expand the definition of guard to mean anybody who wears an Imperial uniform then, yes, I agree, there have been female Imperial guards. I'm going to have to go take another look at Falkreath and Solitude. Offhand, I don't remember seeing female Imperial guards. But then I wasn't paying any attention to the issue either. ;)

When I say Guard I mean the people actually guarding the towns, patrolling the streets etc...not the women in the imperial army. The Stormcloaks have Female Guards and when you complete the civil war quest for them they are in every city, but if you complete it on the Imperial side no Female Guards.

I've noticed this as well. Imperial favored areas seem to have only male guards (city or legion).

Guard duty is a man's job! -_-

... or it must be in the Imperials' mind at least. ^^

Does the captain that wanted to chop your head off at the begining in Helgen count?

Huh? I've run across several of them. Mind, in both Imperial and Stormcloak areas they're still in relatively short supply, sadly, but they are there. That short supply might just mean that you've randomly managed to get all male guards, which is certainly possible.

I can only suspect it's an oversight, like with Fallout 3 where there were only male Enclave troopers but 50% of which were classified as females in game files, hinting an oversight.

There is one Imperial trooper woman, in Helgen. A mage.

One could draw the conclusion that it's considered improper for women to serve in the army by Imperial standards. But given the existence of Legate Rikke it's more likely just an oversight.

The Imperial women for the most part probably lounge around the house while their thralls fetch them some graqes.
Only seen a couple of female Imperials that I can recall and that is Legate Rikke and Adelaisa Vendicci from the East Empire shipping in Windhelm.
Plenty of reference to ex-service Imperial female soldiers including a good few of the orc females and other characters throughout the game.

I think there are enough butchy woman warriors in game to invalidate the "Skyrim is sixist" argument. Every second companion is a [censored] woman.

This is kind of sixist, but it makes me feel like crap siding with imperials in a way. Even the first encounter, siding with Hadvar. Not just because of the female stormcloaks, but some of the males look like they're kind of skinny and young. They're just kids fighting for their religion.

There is too much risk of romantic distractions, especially with their bare all, easy access uniforms. So no female Imperial soldiers.

My guess is that it's an Imperial culture thing. The Empire clearly isn't sixist enough to not women to serve in the army, so why are there no Imperial women as guards? It's possible that they just don't want to. Imperial society puts emphasis on diplomacy and servitude to the Empire but there are many ways to support the Empire other than guarding towns.

Personally I think it's an oversight. If there is a lore related reason, maybe it's just because it's Skyrim and there aren't many troops around. And most of those around are Nord recruits. Maybe these Nords are enthusiastic, young men.. for whatever reason. Heh

They do get Rikke though. She's cool.

Which, IMO, makes it even worse. Dying and especially KILLING for religion is one of the things I've never understood.

I don't have any problem with the average stormcloak. Just the leadership. As for killing, I think many just see themselves as defending their way of life.

Mind you, I like the Imperials too. That's why the Civil War svcks.
