Agreed. It would have fit better in its own movie.
ohhh.. I liked that a lot. Terrible mistake to remove that. I hated that character in Avengers because he lacked character and seemed like the heartless good guy. I was going into this movie not knowing a single character and felt like I only knew that archer, Iron man and the women.
So that is why they did the this character might be important later on angle on the waitress.
You know, when I first saw that scene I really had to wonder why they didn't put it in, especially how it ties into scenes at the end of the movie. Or wonder why they didn't make a 'director's cut' that included it.
I had read Captain America comic books before and none of the others (bar one issue of Thor, which was taken over by Hercules), but was never really a big fan until the movies came out, now he's definitely my fav.
Maybe we'll see the waitress again in the next Captain America movie.
Ah, now the clip of the hot blonde waitress staring at Captain America in awe as he saved the people in the building makes sense, because she recognized him from the cafe!
Full circle...
That is such a good scene, but then again movies need to be like tv shows now for those of the short attention spans.
They probably should have done a Captain America sequel before making the Avengers, to flesh out his character a bit more. Hulk's movie already explored his character a bit, Iron Man had two films, Hawkeye and Black Widow were only new anyway, Thor got some development because the villain was Loki, but Cap kind of got introduced in in his movie, and then was just there being moralistic in Avengers.
Thats just how movies work. You film 50 scenes, and keep 20. That's just one cut scene out of many - take any of them, add it to the special features, and someone's going to think it was a mistake to cut it.
That it made it to the disc means it was close to being in the movie, and if you like you can imagine that it still "happened," anyway.
Saw a bit of one of the Captain America movies and then I had to get laser eye surgery to fix my eyes. Iron Man 2 was one of the worst movies I have ever seen (I have seen iron man 1 and 2 so I knew who that character was).. And Thor just looked really dumb so I never saw that movie.
Hrm. I figure that they maybe did want to focus too much on Captain America in the film (especially with Robert Downey Jr apparently jumping up and down for Iron Man to always be the star), but something like this certainly would have been nice. Could be that they wanted to focus more on the 'fish out of water' theme for Winter Soldier, but still, could've been a nice few minutes extra in the Avengers.
This is the reason for extended editions, where pacing is not an issue.
meh Captain America is a propaganda character so I don't really care for him and his stars and stripes attitude. If I was powerful bad guy in their universe then I would impale him on a pole and stick the pole on the whit houses front lawn
Personally I needed more Hulk smash scenes like the "puny god" one that made me lol...he's supposed to get stronger the madder he gets yet he never becomes the unstoppable rage beast in the movie like he should be.
