Will you be able to SHEATH your weapon and then cast spells with your now free hands? Or will you seriously have to totally unequip any weapon in order to cast with both hands

No idea. Maybe they'll go with a system like Morrowind where you have a separate spellcasting stance.

I don't think we've heard anything on this, but if I'd have to guess; you would need to unequip your weapons to use magic.

I really really hope not, because imagine how it will look...swords appearing and disappearing out of your hands, and if every time you equip a weapon it goes on in the sheathed position and then must be drawn...that will make switching an annoyance

Well, most interviews and such talk about having to "equip" a spell to cast it, and you "equip" weapons and shields, and the term "equip" isn't very ambiguous, soooo...I'd say you're gonna have to unequip something so you can equip the spell unless you have a free hand.

The way I understand it you'd equip spells to your hands as if they're weapons. So no, I don't think so.

A shame nut not that big of a deal to me.

I personally believe that each hand will have two items swap equipped. Except for spells each of the swappable equipped items will be visible on your person. In this way if you have a spell and a sword equipped to your right hand swapping out the sword for the spell will sheath your sword.

Magic takes up one hand. If you want to dual wield it, it will take up two. I thought that was confirmed. Guess not.

Since we now have an animation blending engine for the first time and we have seen unsheathing animations in the trailer as well as multiple weapons and shields on the players and NPCs it's a safe bet we will have animations for equipping and unequipping items worn. equipping from your inventory though will probably still have things appear out of no where but how else could you do it? I mean it's not like it's feasible to wear everything your carrying.

you know usually when people complain about [censored] like this its stupid. but this is not a bad question. Its logical. I like this. I hate when people beg to be able to use spells and a sword. I think this is a great idea and should be implemented in the game especially since you don't get hot keys

Well so far we only have a screen of an NPC wielding a two handed axe and wearing a bow and one concept shot of the player wearing two items with two items equipped. That's good enough for me.

It's concept art from the behind the scenes GI coverage. The one with the player facing what appears to be a slain mammoth in a snowy environment.

Also the draugr group screen shows an npc with one item worn and one equipped

Could I have a link to that screenshot? Don't think I've seen that one.

Yeah, the concept art with the Argonian shows him holding a staff with a sword on his back. Is that the one you're talking about?

Edit: Oh, you mean the mammoth one. Nevermind...

If you want to use magic, you're going to have to free up a hand. They don't want you to be doing everything all the same time. Thus if you're normally a sword and board player, using magic requires changing your combat strategy and your gameplay should change with that.

Is that a bow? I never noticed. Looks like part of another Draugr in the background.

The draugr behind the one in question has a one handed axe in his right hand and his left hand is empty. You can see the string on the bow and the opposite end of it peeking over his shoulder. There is no doubt in my mind that the draugr in the forground is wearing that bow on his back.
