Importing my Morrowind music to Oblivion?

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2011 10:16 am

I have both Morrowind and Oblivion installed on this computer and I would like to import the music from Morrowind to Oblivion. Where are the files for the exploration music in the Morrowind directory? Where will I need to put them in my Data folder for them to play?

Morrowind/Data Files/Music/Explore

That's where you get them; you'll probably want to try and pull them from the Construction Set CD. As for placing, well...

Oblivion/Data/Music/Explore

You'll need to rename them to the names listed under Oblivion; simply dropping them in won't work (the game won't recognize them.) Of course, this means you won't be able to hear any Oblivion music, but what are you gonna do?

What? Why would he have to do that? Oblivion will play all the music that is in the music folders, no matter what their names are, and you can have as many as you like (I haven't really tried with a large number, but I'm using the originals + others). I've noticed though that the mp3s can't be at 320kpbs, Oblivion refuses to play them, but that shouldn't be a problem with the Morrowind mp3s, I doubt they are over 128kpbs (the same as Oblivion).

Tottelini's right... this is absolutely false. Just drag and drop into the Oblivion folder and it'll be fine :)

Heh, I'll admit I was wrong. I was running on a guess there- I assumed that the game wouldn't play sound files that weren't entered into it via the CS editor... after all, that is the case with the meshes/textures/voices folders.
