All the file titles are self-explanatory...To find out if their tied to specific places you'd have to look in the GECK. But...

Outdoor (exploring?) -> "Fallout1and2", "DesertExploration" (inside LOC) and "OLD" folders.

Battle Music -> BTTL (not too sure how they used the "goods and evils")

Everything else is place-specific, I think.

In fallout 3 I replaced some music and renamed the originals, though the originals still play randomly along with everything in the folder.

wont work this time now its very specific not random like before.. its confusing how this game does its music ...

The Songs in the Freeside music folder aren't music for town inside its for the area surrounding outside of Freeside.

Inside the town it plays music from IndustrialCity Folder OR from Dungeon3 folder [ why dungeon ? i dont know to be honest. I thought it was because it meant there were thugs around but sometimes the song is there and i dont see any thugs ].

the low mid and high songs determine how close you are to that area ... its what it seems like anyway ... [ except for dungeon songs the "high" songs for dungeons are the dungeon's battle theme ]

Good and Evil battle songs seem totally random i thought it was because you had good karma or evil karma but thats not the case ... i thought it was fighting evil or good characters but it that wasnt it either. [ infact each battle song seems tied to a location ]

I like some of the music in Fallout but most of the time all the songs sound exactly alike. The only reason i know where such and such song plays is because i went ahead made backups of ALL the original songs and replaced EVERYTHING with songs i could easily recognize [ for testing ... it was annoyingly long to do so ] . I'm thinking about making a list for other people who also enjoy making their own custom BG music that will state where each song [ or maybe just the folder ] plays and make it easier for them to pick songs they feel is appropriate to place for those areas. Im thinking about it im not sure if i wanna do it yet .. its gonna be annoying or if enough people even care.

Fallout NV has pretty decent BG music, I am impressed actually, I have heard some of the old fallout bgm in NV, just remixed obviously. This game really does feel more like the old fallouts, not like crappy FO3, with its lame music, and two choices ending

Oh please do! This has been my most recent frustration; I don't want to have music playing that feels out of place.
