Impressing a Female in Skyrim (or a Male for those who play

Post » Thu Sep 29, 2011 4:52 am

What are the stages of Marriage? We impress and then ask immediately for Marriage proposal? Nothing in between? Also how are we supposed to impress the opposite six or how do we even know that one special person is interested in us?

I don't think Nords do much in the ways of whooing and marrage. They just find someone they like and move in. At least, that's what a few couples in Bruma basically explained.

Or a male for those who play male, or a female for those who play female.

Addendum to your thread title.

What if you are a female looking to impress a female, or a male looking to impress a male? Is this thread not for that?

Wear a shiny amulet, the person instantly falls in love with you.

Yes of course, but basically they're the same (same method to impress even the same six I imagine).

Unfortunately, it will, I imagine, be very simplified and involve giving gifts and perhaps a few dialogue choices, like a lot of games that involve this sort of thing, nothing like what most actual courtship / relationships are like. It's something that's easy to script and develop, which, I suppose, is the best that can be expected considering the focus of the game - something like this is, after all, only minor side-point. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised, but I'm not holding my breath on it. Of course, being a minor side-point means that I won't care too much if I'm right, either...

Yes. I know. Just poking fun at your wording ;)

I just hope that it plays into the mechanics of the game. For instance, it could be a vast resource for gaining speech levels. But I don't know.

if there is any sort of relative historical accuracy in skyrim, you prove that your of relatively equal or greater social standing to her/his father and then he sends her/him to your house :hugs: .

medieval courting rituals were amazingly simple you know  .

Actually an image just struck my mind... on the honeymoon we're in a high place looking at the sunset and then suddenly a dragon comes and turns the situation much hotter :lmao: :lmao:

I think that was a reference to "the old way" before marriage they were talking about. I'm pretty sure there will be a ceremony and exchange of vows.

Just make sure you take the spaghetti out of your pockets and put it somewhere safe. It just makes things awkward.

Now that you mention it... in the skyrim art studio footage there was a book in the shelf called "VIKING [something]" so they definitely studied the Viking life. I think that Vikings used to go infront of the female's father (men at least) and ask for permission so he can take his daughter with him. In exchange for permission his father would demand a kill or an amount of healthy sheep for his farm (3-4 sheep). If the man asking for permission is poor though, he would just plan an escape for the woman he loves so that he and she could escape together from her father's home. Pretty interesting :D

But the Main Quest is optional :P We can always complete the Main Quest then adventure on our own too so we do not have to worry about the end of the world (for those who want to roleplay).
