Remember in the new demo at 2:03 when the kid is talking to his mom? AND THERE IS DIALOGUE THAT MAKES SENSE?! AMAZING.

Mom: I saw a dragon!
Kid: What? What is it now, Mother?

Yeah, if they had marriage and family relationships now and everything, adding a simple line that says mother would be easy. I'm glad they have improved all the interactivity between NPC's. :D

YES

I love silly lines, Oblivion was hilarious sometimes with the stupid dialog.

Except the mom was an old lady and the "kid" was a young Nordic man.

Seems like the kid just doesn't believe his mom. If my mom was freaking out about dragons, I would react the same way.

I hope BGS never tries to shy away from procedural but awkward conversations. Procedural generation is one of the most unique things about elder scrolls.

There was a conversation that made sense in Oblivion's demo as well. Two NPC's were talking about Kvatch. They even referred to each other by name. That conversation never made it into the game.

Of course it's possible that might not happen here, but it's probably just as possible that it will. Just saying.

edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsxl7l1otUE&feature=related The conversation starts at the :45 mark.

That would be Sven, there's a whole quest based around him. So he's not a generic NPC, therefore, the dialogue is quest specific. Sorry folks.

How does it not make sense? Are you somehow assuming that kids are keeping an ear out and listening to their mothers 24/7? I'm sorry, but that makes no sense. And yeah, the way he reacts is believable. She says she saw a dragon. Not everyone has. Everyone knows that dragons haven't been seen in centuries, and they're just now coming back. It's also the very start of the game. Nobody's going to believe you about dragons at first. Some people will deny it when everyone says there's dragons about because it's crazy talk and denial is a way to deal with things that you don't want to be true.

I'm almost positive this dialogue is scripted when you enter whatever town that is for the first time.

Yeah, the unintentional comedy in them is priceless.

NPC 1: All of Dibella's priests and priesteses, murdered!
NPC 2: By the Gods!
NPC 1: No doubt.

He reminded me of a medieval fantasy version of a more whiny Luke Skywalker. I see Bethesda still is not one to shirk away from fantasy norms!
