Improve the class of ranged weapons

Hi,

I've played FO3 and NV and one of the most irritating things imo, in those games is how the gauss rifle that supposedly shoot projectiles is classified as an energy weapon. It doesn't seem and look right to me.

Yes I know guns technically use gunpowder, not magnets or other techblablabla.

My suggestions is to change the weapon class of "Guns" to "Kinetic Weapons" and put the gauss rifle back where it belongs. Make railgun or mass warping magic projectile weapon(like mass effect) a high end Kinetic Weapon just as the Tesla Cannon is a high end Energy Weapons. I love kinetics. It's the most effective forms of energy for destroying stuff (even planets) with sufficient speed.

So in the end, have "Kinetic Weapons", "Energy Weapons" and "Explosives" as the main options for ranged combat.

Just a suggestion.

That it shoots kinetic projectiles is not what makes it an energy weapon.

That it projects them using electromagnets powered by a microfusion cell makes it an energy weapon.

The weapon skill is far more than "what comes out the muzzle". You don't have stovepipe jams with a gauss rifle. You can, however, have a screwy cell electrode contact. Cycling a magazine full of bullets is different from swapping out a power cell. The corresponding weapon skill determines how proficient you are in overall handling of a weapon tied to that skill, not just the squeeze of the trigger.

That just seems unnecessarily convoluted when other wise the way it has been still makes sense and really thats not good enough of a reason to change how the skills have worked pretty much since the beginning just because of a gauss rifle

As long as they fix it, so that I dont blow holes in thin air behind my target, instead of blowing nice holes in his head or torso, I am fine.

I agree with Mir. Unncessarily convoluted.
