Anybody else use this? Its basically just a chat client with graphics. Kinda nifty MSN and Social Network Cite in one. Random Chatting leads to... interesting people.

My Step brother downloaeded it on my laptop, but i never got around to checking it out.

Its very much a niche thing, you will either instantly like it or think its completely bad. I happened to have really liked it. Crowd seems to be very very off-beat (me included). Its a bizarre little sub community.

Yeah you get to pick a user name and it gives you some promo credits to get some stuff for your avitar you can also spend real money on it and buy things from a HUGE user-made catalog, My tag is HeavyMetal7188, but I am an oddball and you've been warned. Im a nice oddball, but a bit much for the average person to handle.

Their aggresive advertising is enough to scare me the hell away. It pops up everywhere. The concept's been done so, so many times.

After reading the wiki article on it, I can comfortably say it is something I have absolutely no interest in and find some of it to be quite idiotic.

I tried it on my friends computer (since it doesn't work on my Mac). Its population consists of teens and pre-teens.

I recommend Second Life. Way better, and it has bunch of stuff for the older (18+) crowd.

agreed

they're adverts don't convey what it is, all I see are subtly perverse images of avatars with IMVU written in an erotic font. I see them everywhere too and I'm less inclined to join when all I see is that.

I have several online friends (who are TOTALLY not the type) who've joined, and keep asking me when I'll jump in. Now that they're switching over to Second Life, I'll consider it. IMVU just wasn't my thing :ahhh:

100% agreed. Second Life is much more diverse than IMVU.

The funny thing is, the furries tend to more or less keep to their own areas like Luskwood and FurNation. So, if you dislike furries so much... why were you there? Unless of course you happened to get mobbed by a bunch of furries at some non-furry area.

I have no idea, it was years ago. I was wandering around aimlessly since I didn't know how to play, nor wanted to learn.

....I wasn't there to roleplay with a bunch of strangers, though, so I am probably not the intended audience. :shifty:

Ah, makes sense. The whole idea though is to roleplay / interact enough so that those strangers become friends. At least, that's my philosophy.

To OP. Try SL, its worth it, trust me.
