Inability to drop quest items isn't a bug. It's just annoyin

Post » Sat Dec 17, 2011 1:26 am

I have some jack ass's lute and like 5 4 pound witch heads I cannot drop. Some say this is a bug, but it is not. The inability to drop quest items was in Oblivion, and with that said, I would like to propose something the Bethesda themselves.

Dear Bethesda,
I would like to politely ask that in a near-future patch, that all undroppable quest items be made entirely weightless. Yes, it is more abstract and less realistic, but is it not also unrealistic that you cannot drop certain items? The method used in Oblivion was better, having all undroppable quest items with a weight of 0, whereas in Skyrim you are forced to hold on to the quest items until you somehow figure out what quest they belong to. I would like to further ask if this idea has been spread among the game developers. Is there already talk about this being implemented or am I the first? If a moderator should read this, reply, and take this idea in to consideration, thank you in advance.

If any in the forum would like to share their ideas on this topic, please let me know what you think.

They are weightless. The Dragonstone doesn't add to my encumbrance at all. But it is annoying to finish a quest and still have the item in your inventory FOREVER. Like the flute from the Bard's College radiant story quest.

I also thought they were weightless. The problem with them remaining in your inventory is bug which they will hopefully fix. For me this only happened with the Bards quest line. I like a clean house, so I will probably remove them with the console.

Cheers,

Actually, in some cases it is a bug Mr.Smartypants. I had 5 bottles of Alto wine that suddenly became a quest item. Thought this was very annoying till a patch came out and I was able to drop it.

I also had some random guys bow that I was able to drop after the patch.

Unofficial Patch fixed all undroppable leftover quest items in Oblivion. Should be an easy fix once the CS comes out in January.

No, the [censored]' lute weighs 4 pounds, and the quest is completed. It's a bug.

As someone said, I thought Q items were already weightless? (maybe post-quest weight is bugged?)

Id much prefer a warning along the lines of "this looks important, maybe you should hold onto it..." and still let me drop it so I can break my quests

this

also tkl7, they have a weight listed, but the quest items don't factor into your carry weight. I checked with the dragonstone, which weighs 20 lbs. I had 10 lbs before becoming overencumbered before I picked it up, after, I still had 10 lbs before overencumbrance.

Some quest items are weightless, others are not from what I have seen. (Xbox360)
Yes, it is annoying. All quest items should be either weightless or able to be dropped. I can understand why they cannot be dropped, as losing items would break quests easily.
To go a step further, how about having all quest items have their own separate inventory category instead of mixing them in with everything else carried?
