Inappropriate clothing

Post » Mon Jan 24, 2011 10:34 am

Oblivion maybe. But come on, that kind of thinking is so 200 years ago.

No, it should. The only thing that's holding this back for me is the fact that if I find a uberset to wear, I dont want to be chased on sight when the wrong kind see me.

That is actually what would make this idea awesome. You uber set of Daedric armor ends up killing you, because everyone hates you for wearing it! :)

When I read the title, I thought "sixy sleepwear?".

I thought this too. :hubbahubba:

The idea of a "Dark Brotherhood Armor" was stupid anyway. We're talking about an illegal murder society here... they shouldn't have uniforms. The black hand robes I could buy, for crazy get-togethers and meetings.

I agree.

"Hey everyone, I know we are this secret cult that kills people for money and everything. And you know, people should kill us on sight. But hey, I spent a lot of time making this sweet uniform and I think we should wear them." - DB Smith.

"Oh yeah! Those look great." - DB Brother.
"I don't see a single flaw in this whole uniform thing. Let's do it!" -Grand Master of the Dark Brotherhood. :ninja:

ive always wanted this in games. clothing should have an effect like wearing certain clothing people might not want to talk to you or wearing say the sixy sleep wear (if playing as a girl) the females in the village wont talk to u but the males will

The DB armor thing cracked me up. I never thought of it but yea, it makes no sense.
I used a mod on morrowind that gave the assassins regular armor though. My biggest complaint was getting a very expensive set of fantastic armor 3 seconds after I spawned at the docks.

Lame!

I did a mod like this for Oblivion. If there isn't this in Skyrim I'll be doing it.

On the DB thing, People forget about the Dead Drop orders, when you are killing other DB members. All of them had normal clothes on. What's more, only like 1 person ever left the Sanctuary besides you. And it isn't entirely unreasonable to believe that 2 people would wear the same clothing in one city.

I believe people are thinking from a lore perspective. At least I am. Every DB member you encountered in Morrowind was wearing their uniform armor. Even the ones that came to assassinate you. It just doesn't make sense for a secret cult of assassins to have a uniform.

I kinda liked how NV did it but to a less extreme

I think we can expect a less extreme version. I believe that the main reason why Fallout: New Vegas was so extreme (killing you on sight if you wore the enemy's armor) was because the factions were so extreme (and the all hated each other, practically), and there were no laws. I think that Skyrim will have many factions (the same in previous games, if not more). Enemy factions will still get mad for wearing their enemy's armor, but probably won't kill you on sight.

If you are wearing any sort of Dark Brotherhood armor people should show signs of uneasiness around you. Some fearful, some threatening. Maybe guards will hover around to keep an eye on you XD On the plus side you might be intimidating enough to get lower prices on merchandise or it won't be so hard to get people to talk about stuff.

The armor isn't just a uniform, it is also very functional. There really aren't any alternatives to the armor and the DB members would wear civies prior to getting into position. Also I doubt every Bob and Joe has even believes in the DB, let alone know what armor is DB standard-issue. Depending on how intimidating the DB armor turns out this time, civilians would be a bit scared of you, guards might keep their eyes on you and particularly educated people might even recognize the armor.

Lol. Same. :celebration:

I belive if you charm someone, they should not respond aversely period, being under a spell.

Other than that, I agree. . . but can you really expect the mages to acknowledge you are wearing necromancer robes, when most of them didn't even seem to care or acknowledge that you had become Archmage?

I agree. It seems rather unrealistic to walk around in necromancer's robes and not have people wondering. Likewise, if you wear a necromancer's robe (just as an example), the other necromancers should think you are one of them unless you start attacking them. :toughninja:

If you run naked in the center of a city, people should laught on you, or something like that...

People SHOULD have a reaction of some cloths (or the lack of them) your wearing...

Let′s see if the improved AI will have such thing

Maybe like New Vegas, but without so much focus on "I am going to kill you even if you are my friend" sort of thing.

Like if I am part of the Mage's Guild, and am a famous/recognized/well-known member. If I wear a Necromancer's robe, but have my face uncovered, people should know it is me, and not attack on sight. On the other hand, if my face is covered, then maybe they should.

Can I cross dress as a male argonian PLEEEEASE!!

on a more serious note...

I think in Oblivion if I'm not mistaken when I ware the King of Worms robes or even a necromancers robes people (mainly mages guild) told me to take it off (get yo mind outta the gutter) and other stuff like that.

What about clothing to weather effects: someone else suggested it work like rads in NV - you slowly gain 'cold points' and you lose them when you're inside. If you're outside you always gain them and they slow you down until a certain point where they start to wear out your fatigue - once you're out of fatigue you drift off to sleep and freeze to death. Wearing warmer clothes or building fires outside would reduce/remove 'cold points' - as would being of certain races, taking a shot of whiskey or casting certain spells.

Oh, and it would be nice if what you're wearing actually made a difference. If I make a suit out of human skin (how far does the crafting go in Skyrim anyway?) someone should damn well notice...

I would like to see clothing actually be useful. Walking around in full armor across the country would get tiring. Also, there is upper and lower class clothes, and being in one or the other should effects peoples views.
Would youwant someone in rags at your fancy party?

COld weather clothing would be nice too. But I dont think that will be implimented at all.

I have no doubt this will be implemented. Even morrowind had it! If you ran around in your loin cloth, people would comment on your indecency.

I think as long as your clothing registered in one of the clothing slots, you were considered clothed - but NPC's would comment on whether you were well dressed or not based on your clothing modifier. Naked was essentially a clothing modifier of zero.

That said, a lot of BB clothing fit in slots that did not count as clothing, which is why you may have run into being accused of indecency, despite actually wearing something.

I do agree with the sentiment that your clothing should matter, though; and for more than an initial greeting. Well heeled merchants should treat you more roughly if you are dressed as a bum, and vice-versa. I also hold that some groups should immediately despise or mistrust you if you wear obviously necromantic or daedric clothing and armor - but that's just me.

imo, odd or suspicious clothing (like going around town in assassin gear with your poisoned sufferthorn blade at the ready) should make guards more suspicious...but not take overt action yet. Perhaps make it more likely for them to be alert or even start following you as you make your way through town.

They could always just attach an "infamy script" of some sort to certain clothing, so if you walk by people they'll say "Ugh, take that off" or "Do you know what you're wearing??"

True. If anything, sneaking around in a DB armor is going to get you noticed more easily than sneaking in plain clothes.

They could always just attach an "infamy script" of some sort to certain clothing, so if you walk by people they'll say "Ugh, take that off" or "Do you know what you're wearing??"

It would be pretty easy with a dialogue condition added to a couple of greetings, you wouldn't even need to script the clothes (assuming this works the same as in FO3/Oblivion).
