increase draw distance

Like the title suggests, is there a mod which does this yet?

I don't think this is a mod, you have to go under the setting file and there should be some variables that control the draw, just be careful though it is really easy to screw up the game if you mess with this

You won't screw the game if you find the right line to increase, but you might start getting 1 fps.

Everything you want to change is under display.

fFarDistance=1000.0000 for instance.

I can't seem to get Ini tweaks to stay, if I change that variable or even uGridstoload they both revert to what they were prior to changing them. Anyone have any ideas?

You also (only?) need to make the change in the ini inside the game's directory (aside the exe)

... Why the heck are there three seperate INIs anyways? Is there really a difference between the two in your profile dir?

I just found that out after messing around for a bit. The game is so much better imo when more of the world gets rendered at a time. I have it set at the moment to render about twice as much as normal.
If op is still having trouble with it, when you're editing the ini edit the value ugridsload from 5 to a higher number so long as it's not even.

Steam Games\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Fallout_default.ini

This is the file that .ini changes go in to now (source: http://www.tweakguides.com/ )

Because there are 3 different versions for the default Low, Medium, and High settings. When first running the game and it detects your hardware, it will copy the appropriate ini file.

And to solve it being rewritten, you need to duplicate the default ini files for backup, then make the changes to the default ini.

I've followed the gametweak guide to the letter and have been doing the ugrid trick since oblivion but for some reason, fallout 3 and vegas are notoriously crash happy when you touch that ugridstoload setting.

I've bumped it up just 2 numbers and instantly the game crashes once I guess it tries to load the next cell or whatever it does.

It's a real shame because even when I set the ugrid distance to 13 and raise the uNumDepthGrids to 3 as well. Still crashes like crazy. I have to default back to the game's ultra high settings (which compared to the modified ugrid setting is laughably bad)

What makes me even more mad is that the game is still perfectly playable with the high ugrid count :(

I'm beginning to think that this is just a flaw with the gamebryo engine because every one of their games has had this problem and it's not just my system it's guys I work with can't change anything either without their games crashing.

Good thing you've built so many game engines, otherwise you wouldn't really be entitled to pointing fingers.
