Increase Performance Modifications?

Post » Sat Oct 24, 2015 10:58 pm

Hey.

I am looking forward to properly modding Skyrim on a new rig and I am looking for mods that specifically increase FPS. (I do not want to lose any detail in the process).

Just looking for suggestions - as I do not know many. (I am unsure if I will get DLCs or not - if that makes a difference with these modifications).

I have heard of ENBoost, but I am unsure if that increases frames, as far I saw it only reduced the amount of ram used.

I presume TESVAL is no longer supported? Correct me if I am wrong.

I will also take a look at applications and programs. (However I do not plan on overclocking at the moment with my 750 Ti 2GB).

More suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

With Skyrim its best played with an FPS cap at 60, any more is not only not needed, but can cause technical problems.

So if you have a machine which falls in the recommended specifications for the game, you will be achieving around an average of 60 without any tweaking.

At least a 3ghz dual core CPU, plus a graphics card with 2gb VRAM ( NVidia 950 or above ) would be a nice system for this game.

TESVAL ( and something else I cant recall the name of ) is not only no longer supported, its not needed, bethesda while they were still doing official updates to the game engine switched on a compile switch which makes the same optimisations as the games exe is made.

ENBoost, can give you a few frames extra, but again its really not needed. For all the trouble you will go through trying to apply its settings to your machine ( you need to understand your machine at a very technical level of competence to be able to utilize it to its best advantage, and can easily get things wrong on may counts ) - You may aswell turn down Anti-aliasing or Anisotropic filtering a bit, or on the CPU side reduce the distance you get NPCs being generated in the world = The games launcher settings / advanced will probably be more beneficial.

The thing is, I will be under 60 frames as I would like to use an ENB. Preferable TK Realistic.

Not sure how much pressure that would put on a 750 Ti 2GB (not OC), with 2K textures.

Well you cannot use ENBoost and an ENB at the same time. Alt3rnity is correct that it takes a bit of tweaking to get the ENBoost ini set up right for your machine, so if you are using an ENB, you won't need to worry about that. The only other performance enhancer you will need is the SKSE ini, but that's more memory management than performance.
