Independence Day

Happy 4th July to all Fallout fans in the USA and around the world!

Just wanted to put that out there guys, hope you all have a great day! And just think, only 129 more days and we'll all be playing Fallout 4.

In terms of the game itself, do you think we will be seeing many real-world historical references? We've already seen a number of redcoats in the concept art, as well as a modified version of the USS Constitution. So there could be more included in the final release.

Happy 4th of July everyone! @gkk7z, I think there will be a ton of historical references in the game. At the end of the concept art at the E3 presentation, there is a portrait of a gentleman who I think is a young John Chapman(Johnny Appleseed). The portrait is in the same frame as the airport, at the end of the concept art presentation.

Today would be a thematically appropriate day to release some more news wouldn't it? Don't you think so? Devs? DEVS?!

It most certainly would! Let's all hope they give us something new today, anything would be good :D

In the meantime, looking at the timeline shown in the Fallout wiki, there are references from the series that go as far back as the early 1600s. One particularly interesting reference is actually from 1775, noting the start of the American Revolutionary War itself. The date shown of April 19 marked the opening phase of the war, which was actually the Siege of Boston. Given some of the other references we have seen, I'm wondering if this could be significant in some way to Fallout 4's main storyline.

Could we perhaps be seeing an android revolution.

And now you've got me imagining Harkness in a Colonial gentleman's outfit. xD With Washington's hairstyle. Drafting an Android Declaration of Independence. xD

Considering the USS Constitution and the various references to Colonial Boston, it would be an astutely perfect day to release some more info. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if there was an android revolution. With the Institution and the Replicated Man quest in FO3, it's practically screaming for that plot.

Yeah, I'm thinking revolution will be a key theme in F4.

And happy 4th to everyone. Hope we're forgiven.

Just wanted to point out that official Fallout 4 page has a message at the top that reads:

NEWS ALERT. #PleaseStandBy

I'm guessing this is important.

I'm viewing this on my mobile phone, and the message is in a red bar at the top of the page on LHS

EDIT: I've just checked and refreshed the page and the message is definitely still there.

Well I have in past, in my much more sarcastic youth wished Americans Happy Traitors day........also had fun arguing with a Canadian friend that he is actually American since he was born in North America, which always annoyed him immensely.

But anyway happy 4th of July to our American friends.

Just to be "that guy" I'd like to point out that the Constitution wasn't written until long after the war for independence ended and the ship bearing its name was built much later to fight pirates in Africa then fought in the war of 1812 not the revolution.

Just wanted to clarify something: the message I mentioned earlier on the http://gamesas.com/en-gb/games/fallout_4 is definitely still there, but in order to see it you have to choose "International" as your country. At the top of the page under the words "NEWS ALERT" it says "#PleaseStandBy". If you still can't see it, try deleting cookies or search history, or view it on an incognito page, but it definitely is there.

This seems a bit too much of a coincidence considering what day it is. I really think that there might be a big new announcement at some point today!

EDIT: for some reason it doesn't show up on the North American page, instead it just mentions the Game Critic Awards. This is most unusual!

Thanks and right back at you gkk7z.

Also everyone if you are celebrating would you take a look at your duck and cover page 12. If your drinking and have a handful of explosives things can go wrong.

Be careful.... or better yet let someone drunker than you light em, while you tape.

You're most welcome.

As a side note, please can somebody confirm the message on the official page, just so I know I'm not going crazy lol!

Considering the locale, and in some footage you see a lot of "4th of july"-style inspired décor hanging from buildings, I'm sure we'll see a healthy dose of Revolutionary elements. The Minutemen are already a reference to the militia of the colonies.

Probably just a placeholder for International pages, like an automatic update, but not relevant since the news is also about E3 nominations. I don't visit the FO often, so I don't know how it really behaves on the regular.

I see it as well. I'm going to remain cautious about this despite how compelling and coincidental it'd be that we'd get more FO4 news on July 4th.

Harkness: *sitting at a terminal typing* OK, let me get this first line down. *ahem* “When in the Course of Android events, it become necessary for Android-kin to dissolve the permanent unity that binds us to our humans....”
