Individualized Perk Ideas

74 hours in, on the X-box, and loving it.

I got to thinking about the perk trees. All of the perks relate to the various skills in the game; but what about my one character as an individual person, regardlessof his/her skills?

Why couldn't we choose some additional perks on the side? You would still have to choose where to spend your 1/level perk point, but this might add even more variation to the game. So go ahead and offer some ideas for additional perks (whether they be skill related, or individual in nature). Just keep in mind that they should be valuable enough that players might choose them, yet not so OP that they unbalance the game completely. I'll start......

- Fast runner. Add 10% to walking and running speeds. (this could have 1-4 additional levels)
- Master of disguise. Like a racial power, you can (once a day), change your appearance. Not race or six.
- Toughness. (for all you FO3 fans). Adding 20 points of armor per level of this perk. Max of 60 points.
- Mixed parentage. One time only, you can add the skills and bonuses of a second race to your character.
.....
etc....etc...

DLC will most probably add new perks as "active effects".

Be nice if DLC does something to perks. Being able to pop everything and do 3700 damage will melee yet I'm stuck with the starting damage of my spells is redic. I'm sorry running up to someone and holding down 2 buttons is only slightly less OP than spamming those same two buttons from a range. You'll probably get more of a workout from the spam than tilting your L stick forward to move. /end rant

I'd like to see some non-skill related perks as well.

Some sort of alternate level progression is probably going to be necessary in at least one of the DLCs since I doubt we've going to see many raises to the level cap. There are already a number of quests that give you special active effects, and being able to choose specifically which ones you want out of a pool could allow for greater diversity.

Just not too many more used powers. You already end up with a ton of extra daily powers (that mostly go unused, at least speaking for myself) near the end of the game. Werewolf or vampire powers, Nightinggale power, Dark Brotherhood power, racial power, a possible stone power, and likely some others I can't remember of the top of my head.

Some generic perks might be alright, but I'd love to see more unique passive effects to be honest. For example, something that lets your shouts have an "echo", that has them repeat their effect with lesser magnitude with a short delay between. The sap effect you suggested is something fairly unique as well.

Yes please. More perks. But they should change the levelling system to New Vegas instead. I don't like how you have to level up your skills manually while you could simply invest points in them when you level up. Seriously Bethesda, Fallout 3 did it right...
