Infiltration is SO MUCH FUN!

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 1:46 am

I've been playing as an agent for Caesar's Legion for quite a long time. Just recently, after I assassinated Chief Hanlon, I wanted to do Lucky Old Sun.

Silently killing NCR troops from a distance, stealing their clothing, and walking around like a soldier is actually a lot of fun! You feel so nervous when a dog walks by you and only are you relieved when it passes. It's such fun, not to mention it improves your thinking :)

So did any of you have a lot of fun infiltrating NCR or Legion as a Frumentarri/Spy?

Yeah, infiltrating Cottonwood Cove and assassinating Phoenix was fun, as was infiltrating McCarran and assassinating Hsu. It makes me really glad that faction disguises were included in the game. And have you ever played any Metal Gear/Metal Gear Solid games? Because infiltrating places and avoiding guards makes up most of the gameplay.

I never did the whole disguise thing because A.. when I did it I played an unpatched version and as a consequence, it turned everybody hostile against me B.... Therefore, I couldn't tell if the disguises worked. I may turn this sniper build into a more infiltrator build if it works. How can you tell who can ruin your disguise?

My first Legion playthrough I did like a Splinter Cell type run where just before the battle at the Dam I went through all the NCR populated locations (McCarren, Forlorn Hope, etc) and stealthily killed everyone. I'd be hiding bodies in tents, slitting throats as people slept, sniping from the dark, etc. All very fun. Then I had Boone kill Manny and stuck a knife in him afterwards, which made me feel pretty devious.

If you're disguised as a member of the NCR, then Rangers and NCR Guard Dogs can ruin your disguise. I'm still not entirely sure about the Legion side of things concerning disguises, but I would assume that you should avoid the Mongrels.

See I did this too. I even made the sniper build challenging in that I had to be in and out of a building in so much time before they realized their comrades were gone. It make the playthrough much more enjoyable rather than just sitting there and picking off everybody. I still hide the bodies.

Thanks my friend. Maybe if I get more time tonight I will do some research into it.

No, haven't played Metal Gear. Want to though.
But I have played Assassin's Creed and parts where you aren't supposed to be detected were a little like the gameplay videos of Metal Gear I've seen,

If I was feeling particularly into the act, I'd like, position the bodies so it looked like they were either sleeping on a bed, or had killed themselves. "He's slumped over in his chair and he's got Psycho on his lap, obviously it's a drug overdose. No, I don't know why his disembodied head is on the table with a knife wound in it!"

It's usually at that point that I figure I've had enough video games for the day.

I played as an agent of House. I pretended to 'make amends for my actions against Caesar' for having wiped out Nelson, and slaying Phoenix by clicking the fan boy dialogue responses to Caesar and 'doing as he commanded', then when he sent me into the bunker, I activated the Securitrons for Mr. House. Then I did a lot to help NCRs cause, saved the monorail 'for the cause of NCR', all the while secretely saving it as a luxury transport for Strip visitors Post-Hoover Dam, furthering them to help Mr. House. Then, after eliminating the Fiends, and protecting President Kimball I made my move, I turned the Kings against NCR, and procured Hoover Dam for Mr. House. The Legion got their barbaric behinds skinned, and Oliver and the NCR were sent back home with their tail between their legs. :disguise:

I like being stealthy if I can. There's been a few times where I've been a long way away, brought out the AM Rifle, sneaked, capped one guy. Moved. Capped another guy. And so on. Have taken out whole areas without being detected.

The only playthrough of the Legion side courier I enjoyed was my infiltrator one. She was melee/unarmed so I had to be super stealthy. I'm doing it so I'm Idolized by the Legion and liked by the NCR. It's so fun! Makes me feel like a spy. Acting as a double agent, exploding pants pockets and slicing through an NCR soldier while nobody is looking is the best feeling in the (virtual) world!

I loved doing We are Legion. Killing that Comms chick without alerting the other three soldiers was pretty fun. After she died I was at my last target. I dropped a satchel charge in his pants and BOOM! The other three NCR soldier boys were blown to bits. Then I casually walk off the camp while my reputation stayed the same.
