Infinite bladder?

Post » Wed Oct 06, 2010 1:40 pm

Has anyone else ever noticed how your character never goes to the bathroom? I mean even if you used the toilet you drank out of it.

Would it add to immersion or just be an annoyance?

Annoyance because of one reason:
This is a RPG (ROLE PLAYING GAME)
90% of the things you do in fallout are choices.
Taking a leak every 'x' ammount of time isn't a choice. Whats the point?

annoyance.

/thread
But really, its not The Sims : New Vegas. On that note, to all the other similar threads, it is not
Halo
Call of Duty
Sim City
A Racing Game
A Simulator

Its an RPG.

I think it would be great immersion to pee yourself in the middle of combat. It would do slight damage do your clothes. (radpee and all.)

Having to take a piss every couple of hours in-game would be pretty annoying.

Although....

Deathclaw running at you? BLAST IT WITH PISS.

It was part of the mechanics of several Build engine games.

(and Postal 2, come to think of it).

Personally I think it should just be assumed, (though having the option seems harmless enough ~until you consider that all protagonists in the Build games were male).

Not annoying if you had a feces flinging perk. Maybe raiders stop shooting and start laughing histerically when you pee your pants, and then you could get in a few cheap shots!!

No thanks, I'll spend enough time searching for items I need without having to look for 200 year old depends.

People in Fallout don't have bladders. It's a result of the timeline divergence or something. They kept building bathrooms because they thought it would feel retro.

I mean really people, read up on your lore!

See, in the Fallout Universe, after the war, humans evolved beyond the need for bladders.

It would be an annoyance. While this is an RPG, and hardcoe mode is for immersion, I think eat, drink, sleep, and heal like a somewhat normal human system is fine.
I also thought of a bladder system-in-video games joke!
*Deep automated male voice* "Maximum Bladder." Due to nobody getting the reference here it is: The nanosuit from Crysis.

Then there's the course a previous thread took, with failure to reach facilities on time granting an..."unwanted perk?"

Hmmm...

"Stinky Pants: Your CHA is reduced by 6 and you're treated like an extremely rancid Ghoul until reaching a proper shower facility and changing into new armor"

I thought it was understood that our characters ate and excreted their bodily fluids when we turned off the game? (that was a joke)

This is up there with the suggestion of adding bowel movements in New Vegas, I remember how much laughs that thread gave me and I really hope this one does the same for me as well. :tops:

Well...hardcoe mode in New Vegas sort of upsets the balance of that somewhat. Apparently now they only take potty breaks in "non-playing time?" Or...do they just get larger and more rounded as the game progresses?

For sake of argument lets assume they pee when were not around. also they wouldn't do it very often if there out in the blistery wasteland sun they would sweat most fluids right out so peeing woulnd't really be much of a issue if they put it in but it might be problematic for female PC's

They were going to add Peeing to the game. However, when it came time to do the animation, they had some issues. The debate between Tappers and Shakers became so heated that they decided to leave it out of the game.

The game needs to come out ,pronto!!!
people are really getting short of idea's to discuss now.

The character should also take a dump and form a scat worshipping faction .

The game forces us to believe that he wets himself with no indication of when he needs to go. It's a wasteland, people don't care if someone sees their shmeckle. But they would probably not want to be caught by a deathclaw with their pants down.

In reading this topic, I have decided that I am OK when there is suspension of realism when it comes to the end of the digestive process.

This. Obviously, the bladder and bowel have been replaced with an internal storage compartment. Where do you think people keep all their stuff--have you ever seen a backpack on anyone?
