Infinite Power Armor use Confirmed?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 10:06 pm

In the new trailer "The Wanderer" it shows the main protagonist getting in a suit of armor and then just walking off into the wastes with his trusty Dogmeat companion.

Does this hint that we will be able to always use power armor? Obviously he was able to travel through doors with it, so what would be stopping you from using it all the time?

Thoughts?

I personally love that we may be able to use the suit as much as we want.

Honestly I believe that there going to be limited use until we found a battery that doesn't drain in couple hours of gameplay.

I don't know.. Even if it's powered it'd still probably use one of the electronic battery types.. Microfusion cells or one of the others. So as long as you have a good supply of those I don't see why you wouldn't be able to go as far as you wanted.

In the Preston Garvey footage we saw the PC put a Cell into the armor which fits into the lore about PA running on MF cells. Most likely we will have to swap the cells out every once in a while and thus will be limited unless we can recharge them or accumulate an insane amount of them.

See the question mark? It means I'm asking if it's possibly confirmed not stating that it is.

Sorry if english isn't your native language or if you missed the question mark in advance

You won't have to worry just about the power, when you take enough damage and parts start falling off i imagine you will have to go back and repair the pieces. I can see it being a fairly balanced thing, and while you will probably will be able to walk around in it for ages (i hope to god we eventually can) but eventually you will have to take it back and repair.

At a guess it depends on the type of power armor you are using. Higher level, harder to craft types being all the usage you can want, but perhaps slightly less stats. *shrugs* At least that makes the most sense to me, considering you can craft several different versions.

I don't know.

I'm not going to take anything from this without a grain of salt. I think it was just done for the sake of a cool looking shot.

lol it was just a promotional cinematic trailer.

Most likely PA will be a time use or something that will prevent us from over use it.

Yeah, everything in that trailer was "Rule of Cool". We can't take anything from it. It was all CGI and live-action. Same way they put the Vault door upright, when we know it is flat on the ground and you rise out of it in the game. It's all just to communicate the concepts to a TV audience that isn't familiar with the game news on Fallout 4.

Without disparaging Bethesda, it's not like them to limit the player in any substantive way.

There might be a fuel limit or a general limit of some sort, but I'd expect it to become trivial mid-to-late game.

You mean it wasn't actual gameplay footage? And here I was thinking that they were showcasing their game on Ultra High settings.

I'd be genuinely surprised if you couldn't, even without the trailer. I think that Bethesda implemented the "fuel" system to restrict early game usage, and that at some point you'll be able to use it whenever you want for however long you want. I don't think Bethesda is going to make the series' iconic armor a specialized piece of equipment you only use a few times throughout the game. I think it's just a way of preventing the player from abusing what is supposed to be late game armor early on - similar to the Power Armor Training perk in Fallout 3.

In the lore the reactors powering the suits of power armor seen in the series up until this point have been able to support up to 100 years of uninterrupted usage before running out. There is however an older model of T-45 that had a reactor that required the user to keep feeding it Microfusion/Energy cells to function. Presumably you start out with this early T-45 reactor, and later in the game can upgrade to a more advanced T-45/T-51 reactor that won't need to ever be recharged... at least not in your character's lifetime. This is my guess at any rate.

This.

With the emphasis on vertibirds, power armor, enhanced crafting, settlement building, The Institute, androids, etc. your power will likely stem largely (and even moreso than Fallout 3 or NV) from your items, as well as the items you can craft.

Power cells, armor repairs, etc. will all likely be necessary for power armor, and eventually it is likely we'll be able to craft cells without a power limit.

Those old reactors can last up to 100 years.

Shame it's been over 200.

I like it. Make a whole quest line revolving around getting your PA truly battle ready, I say.

If it's portable, indefinite power that's needed, I gotta think the Institute is the place we need to look.

This has me thinking about those raider types with cages around their heads. They're reminiscent of the Gearheads in rage.
So perhaps we find another upgrade for PA there as well? Either the armor, or hydraulic aspects.

Why did people think something as fundamental to the series as power armor would have its use limited by something? Who told you these ridiclous lies?

Isn't it obvious? We raid the Raiders PA power cell supply! Because I bet we wont be seeing them replace theirs. Yet apperently we will have to replace ours? If it turns out they just He-man their "dead" PA then I call total bullcrap.
