Infinite quests - Same locations over and over again

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 10:15 am

Please tell me there is a valid way of resetting one of those radiant fetch quests. I've done the "Learning Curve" quest where you escort a Brotherhood scribe 5 times by now, since I like the general idea behind it. But unfortunately I've been sent to one place I've already been before in the Minutemen questline and whole 3 (!) times to the GNN buidling. And every single time magically all Gunners respawned and the chest with filled with loot again. C'mon Bethesda, that can't be the formula of the promised "400+ hours" of playtime..

I would really appreciate any help or hint towards if it's possible to manipulate the outcome of the building radiant quests lead to. (Console commands, etc. etc.) I really just want another building to explore. Some smart & mighty Fallout engine wizzard please?! ;)

Thanks in advance.

Same problem here. It's AWFUL...Skyrim never did this. Areas would respawn enemies but you were never sent on the exact same quest more than once. That's how it should be, IMHO

Agreed. This particular quest is pretty important to me since it is sadly the only one where I do kind of get the Brotherhoof of Steel feel while traveling with the scribe as well as a companion and myself in Power Armor.

But the same location over and over again? I'm pretty sure there are more possible locations than 3 and I would like if they had at least implented a system that prevents a location to appear too often or even in a row. :/

I was wondering when this topic was going to come up. With having unlimited levels in a game, there has to be content to do. How long do you think they could go and just make new and unique missions. You cannot have a completely unique and endless story arc. This was the only option available to have no max level in game.

So they did the only thing they could do. Set up this mission system. Believe me, I am predisposed to be furious about this from playing games like Neverwinter where what's being done here is just a standard way of life. It would be nice to have a endless quest line for all the factions that aren't done the way they had to do this one. But it's just not possible to have unlimited levels and have endless unique quests.

If it helps, I'm sorry. And I'm not saying that to be a troll. This was literally the best option with having the game be the way it is.

Still it's kind of a cheap and artificial way of generating content/playtime in a game. F3 and NV didn't have that many radiant and fetch quests, still I've spend 300 hours of playtime in these games in total. I don't care for 400+ hours promised content if it's really just all about radiant and/or fetch quests.

But that wasn't my issue with F4 and in this thread at all, I just wanted to not have the same location in one of those missions that often in a row. :P

Radiant quest locations are pure RNG, so while it is unlikely to get sent to same location by same questgiver it can happen i only had that happen once in about 20 radiant quests done for varius factions. Is the system perfect no but its only way radiant quests can work.

Yeah the repeating locations and the crazy respawn rate is starting to get on my nerves.

Well as said repeating locations is just bad RNG, about respawn it does take a while for location that has cleared tag to respawn and lose cleared tag(though if you get a quest i guess it autoresapwns imediatly not sure about that).

I can't shake the feeling that they are respawning faster than they did in Skyrim.

It feels like I am playing a Korean MMO. My repeating "random" quests are "Kidnapping from Abernathy Farm", always one of the women in either the police station or the clothing store, and kill all X in Y for Sanctuary. And every third or so kill mission, from any settlement, goes against the raiders in the ration depot.

I've begun to completely ignore these radiant quests, whenever I go to the Castle to drop off loot, I try to get our of there as soon as possible before the Minutemen broadcast gives me another one of those damn missions.

Jeez, I don't seem to get any other locations than this GNN building anymore. I mean really?! I'm already open minded and trying to do some of those radiant fetch quests all over the place, but then I have to discover that it's implented that freaking cheap? What a disgraceful joke..

I think that's my only option too at the moment. I'm beginning to really hate Preston effing Garvey, because I know when turning in the hundredth kill raiders/ghouls/mutants run, rescue Abernathys daughter for the umpteenth time, (seriously what is it about her) or clear yet another area I'll never use for a settlement...he'll give me yet another one and I won't have the option of saying no. And that's all I want really, the option of saying no! Repeatable quests are fine, I just want a clean quest log.

The radiant quests are good once, but so repetative. And it didn't need to be, any terminal in the game would have been fair game for the scribe quest.

Preston's missions could have continued with different settlements, or to add more of them across the world, I've seen plenty of locations that seemed like potential bases if cleared out.

No reason why you can't rearrange the entire city map IMO.

I feel that Bethesda really needs to slow down Preston's expansion of the Commonwealth. Personally I would think getting a notice every 2-3 game days would be better than getting one every time I return to Sanctuary.

Actually it did.

The Thieves Guild and Companions had radiant quests that were the same 5-6 tasks repeated over and over again. The Dark Brotherhood post questline radiant quests were basically the same thing also, and the College had some as well that were literally the same quest, just a different location.

Interesting....I put 850 hours into Skyrim and I never seen a repeated quest (to the same exact location as well). But that whole time I never completed the Thieves Guild (never did any of theirs) and never finished out the Companions (did some though) or the College of Winterhold....(although I did become ArchMage a couple of times).

i dont see what this has to do with a max level. a max level would have been great in Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Oblivion, Skyrim, i know because I used mods/scripts to make it happen. Max level is just keep progressing as long as you have the will to play.

You can stop at level 40 or so if you can beat the game by then, or go on to get 117 levels before you call it a game.

That has nothing to do with them having the same radient quest over and over again.

but what do you expect OP, its a radiant quest.

I would've honsetly expected a rotation of several locations. But I've got the GNN building 4 freaking times by now, what the actual love? 400+ hours my ass, F4 really just is mediocre quality paired with excellent hype - no more, no less.

400 hours? did beth say that? its 400 hours easily if you veg out on making settlements, which is severely lacking in some things that will be fixed by mods, but in terms of the quests, i kind of feel like there are about the same amount as any other beth game.

don't really depend on Beth to do another morrowind.

You mean a bunch of guild quests and side quests you could beat in 5 minutes and had about as much to them as a radiant quest without the actual systems to make them never ending?

Haven't played Morrowind, but can it really be worse than F4 though? Most quests in this game are fetch quests like "Go there, kill that, take this, come back" or "Get from A to B" quests. Paired with some "Build that in the Workshop" or a scripted quest like finding Kellrogg or that Synth for the teleportation chip where you just fight your way through an enemy infested building. It's not only bad RPG content, it's boring FPS content too.
